(04-11-2023 05:33 PM)Bearkat21 Wrote:  My interpretation for what it is worth is that the conference can go to the FBS as was previously planned when NMSU and SHSU were part of the conference HOWEVER, if the NCAA allows them to go to the FBS that would not entitle them to any bowl tie ins or CFP money. It is unlikely that other conferences would bar the WAC-ASUN from jumping to FBS under the old WAC banner, but they would most certainly take issue with the schools in the WAC receiving CFP pay outs. My guess is that the current FBS conferences would argue that the WAC was a part of the old BCS era and therefore is not grandfathered in for CFP funds since their grace period expired, and they came back as an FCS conference. In the event that the WAC does go FBS it will likely have a hard time getting any bowl tie ins, any CFP monies, and any increase in TV revenues. It would without a doubt be a major step below the MAC, Sun Belt, and C USA. What the WAC schools have to ask now is it really worth it to jump at that point? Your 2 best FCS football programs (SHSU and JSU) have already left for C USA, the 1 FBS team you did have (NMSU) has gone to C USA, and the only team remaining with an FCS championship will be EKU who last won a title in 1982. Are you really going to jump to FBS with Utah Tech, SUU, and Northern Alabama tied at the hip? Seems like the best option is to allow the teams that are excelling in FCS currently to rise to the top and receive an invite from the MAC, C USA, or the Sun Belt. Teams that are on their way and could be FBS in the next 10 years from the WAC/ASUN are EKU, Tarleton St, Austin Peay, and possibly SFA. Seems like resources would be best spent in those programs trying to receive an invite to one of those 3 conferences rather than trying to make this monster conference move up. This is FCS teams best chance since 2010 to prove they are able to be competitive with SHSU, JSU, KSU, and JMU out of the way for the FCS playoffs. If someone can find a way to make the national title game and or beat SDSU/ NDSU in the playoffs to get there they will prove without a doubt they can compete in the FBS and will receive an invite. Thats the biggest red flag for Tarleton currently.

Says the one who school is woefully underfunded for FBS has no fan and little alum support and will be nothing but cannon fodder at the FBS level.

It’s more about success on the field and a few good years on the grid iron for SHSU doesn’t qualify them financially. Even your AD privately tells others this going to be an uphill battle for us.
We’re cannon fodder in the FBS, you’re cannon fodder in the FCS. Clearly, CUSA thought lil broke Sammy was a better choice for the big times than Tarleton, even with the all money you beg for from your school’s main campus in College Station. So clearly, football play DOES qualify us for FBS ball.

Do you know you how stupid you sound repeatedly telling any and every Sam fan who comes onto this board the same thing over and over and over again? Do you genuinely think any Sam fans are unaware of our own issues? Or were you educated at a farmers college?

Don’t be a clown! You’re comparing yourself to a school in transition.

If the shoe fits wear it.
I dunno, just think it’s a little ridiculous that a Tarleton freakin State fan of all people decided to do a broken record impression about SHSU’s FBS move. No need to argue whether or not we’re a good candidate for CUSA, they picked us over your former JUCO, despite the lobbying and begging from your overzealous president.

Be nice to Bearkats and Aggies. We hold votes in your only chance to make the jump to big time football soon, even though y’all clearly don’t deserve to be at our table.

No one does. Only the select chosen few such as You mentioned are worthy enough.

LMAO

Anyone can go visit both Campuses and I guarantee when they leave they won’t be talking about SHSU.

Well given that Sam Houston will be going FBS this year, whereas Tarleton continues to desperately attempt to find political loopholes in sad attempts to move up after being passed over multiple times, I’d say the important people already made the call on which school is preferred and ready for real D1 football.

I hadn’t heard of Tarleton State before 2020. Nobody had. Definition of obscurity. A running joke among other conferences fans. Texas A&M can’t buy you playoff wins or conference championships, or even a spot in CUSA. That chance is gone, you’re stuck.

Obviously you have never read any of my posts or you have been on other boards and just came here for a drive by.

I am not one of those who thinks TSU should jump to FBS. I would be more than happy to stay in FCS for a decade and see if we can win a NC at this level. We have better football facilities than most schools including yourself and it would give us a chance to go on some playoff runs. But, I don't get to make that call.

Say what you will but Tarleton is adding infrastructure and building a Ft Worth Campus that both will an envy of most by the end of this decade.

Better facilities? With your garbage looking makeshift endzone bleachers? And gym that you pay rent to Stephenville HS for? Yeah lol. I beg to differ. And clearly CUSA does too, as they rejected you twice.

It doesn’t matter what you want. Your school is going to continue to embarrass themselves in silly attempts to make a jump that REAL FBS conferences have deemed them unfit for.

Why would Tarleton pay rent to someone if the gym is located on their campus?

It may be on their campus but it actually belongs to the HS. That’s why it’s a cracker box. In fact, based on the looks of things, SeattleU might have the same situation on their hands.

Wisdom Gym is in no way owned by anyone other than Tarleton... To think that Stephenville ISD owns ANYTHING on Tarleton's campus is ridiculous. Tarleton has also told Stephenville ISD that after 2025 they can no longer use Tarleton Memorial Football Stadium. A 39 million school bond passed to construct a new high school football stadium.

I want to believe you, bumpkin, but I can’t believe anything I read from TSU folks. After telling everyone 20,000 fans showed up to a game that had 4k people at it against SHSU, I use the eye test to judge Tarleton State.

Nah, you’re just speaking out of your ass. Usually teams that play on courts with their own logos, aren’t paying rent to some HS. On their own campus too.

Way to shoot your credibility to heck. A simple internet shows the lone HS and lone MS have their own place.

You made me agree with Double Seattle guy.

Stephenville ISD pays Tarleton 100k per year to use Memorial Stadium. That ends in 2025. Lem Brock Field is where sub varsity & soccer is played.

Nah, you’re just speaking out of your ass. Usually teams that play on courts with their own logos, aren’t paying rent to some HS. On their own campus too.
Incorrect; I never speak out my ass.

You’re just JEALOUS SeattleU (nobody has heard of it) doesn’t have a FOOTBALL team.

Jealous? Not at all. I get to watch any college game I want to on Saturdays, while you spend yours watching Sam Houston State. I’m good without SU football. There’s literally hundreds of college football teams. Ain’t nobody jealous. That’s all there is to do in Huntsville, watch FCS football and cow tippin’.

I don't think there's much pastureland around Huntsville and they still don't go and watch FCS football 03-lmfao

It’s a commuter school. They all race out of Huntsville at break neck speed to get home or find some other venue to go to come the weekend. Too close to College Station and Houston. 03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao

Eatemup11 did the same thing when he was there.

Just to correct a lie you have posted multiple times,

The attendance at the game you list was reported at a little over 20,000. As discussed on this message board by those at the game and I was one, the attendance was probably between 17,000 and 18,000.

And it would take Sam three home games to reach 17,000 fans.

Looks like I’ve struck a few nerves with the Tarleton folk… unsurprising that the FACTS I posted are a sensitive subject with you all, especially coming from a Sam fans. You have been chasing us for years, despite nobody ever hearing of you, and when you finally join a conference with us, we kick your ass and leave. Ha!

I never lie or post misinformation.

There were probably 8k people in the stands. At most. I was there.

Why is Sam Houston making the move to CUSA, with guaranteed CFP money and a larger national spotlight, if TSU draws 3x the amount of fans as us?

From your own CubKitty website, douche canoe: https://gobearkats.com/sports/football/s...core/13647

20,237 is the OFFICIAL attendance. In the books. Unchallenged by the NCAA. Get over it.

Timing, nothing more. You "won" your only natty in 50+ years at D1 level during a Covid year and CUSA was desperate for an add in Texas not currently IN TRANSITION, like Tarleton. Don't worry, Scam Houston will be exposed soon enough.

20k. Sure..... we all know everyone fudges attendance numbers. Some schools worse than others.... at least SHSU seems pretty honest with theirs lol
