Men's game 10: @La Salle
Game is Noon on Saturday on ESPN+

La Salle is 5-4 with wins over bad teams and loses to decent and good teams (Except their loss to Georgetown). They did beat Penn 84-81. They are balanced in scoring and minutes across the 6-8 players. Khalil Brantley is their leader at 32 minutes and 13 points a game. He does rebound and pass the ball decently. As a team they dont shoot particularly well from anywhere. Nearly half the shots they take are form 3.

This is a winnable game, but which team shows up? Does Coletrane hit some shots? Do we get Amari back on track? To me this is a hopefully get right game and we can try to find ourselves. This is a tough one to predict. Give me the home team in this one.

Drexel- 68
La Salle- 71

Don't forget. The game is on national TV on USA Network. The nation will have the opportunity to watch 2 of Philadelphia's best mid-major teams playing in the best college basketball arena in the entire Olney section of Philadelphia.

I think I might go just to see the smoke machine in person.

Figures we finally make it on national tv (or somewhere it can actually be watched) and I wont have a chance to watch because of a late invite to a birthday party for the kiddos. Go figure.

https://www.nbcsports.com/live#full-event-replays may let you watch after the game.

La Salle led most of the half, and the first half of the half was very low-scoring. Jamie Bergens scored at the buzzer to tie it at 31.

You won 65-58 in overtime.

I'm going to use the world "mediocraty" once again. But that was the case on both sides. La Salle isn't very good at all. We watched two teams that played really hard today and both really seemed to want to win, but just didn't seem to have the ability to pull it off. It was a tight one. Neither team lead by more than 8 the entire game. Not thrilled with Drexel's final play of regulation play. They pulled that same BS last year against Princeton too where in both games, Drexel had plenty of time to run a play and instead just wasted down the clock until it was too late. I'd like to see them use that final play of regulation in a tie game to play with more urgency. I'm sure this isn't the last time this year that happens. Overall, happy to see them finally pull off a win against a Big 5 team. In my 30 or so years following Drexel, I've only seen Drexel beat La Salle once in person. I wasn't there for the last several wins at Tom Gola, and the only time that Drexel ever beat La Salle at the DAC was in the Covid year when fans weren't allowed in.

La Salle would very much slot right into the middle of the CAA, much to their fans' consternation.

That was my first time at Gola in quite a while. It's really notable how the last few years of renovations at the DAC have put it far ahead of Gola in terms of everything but size.

La Salle in the Atlantic 10 was laughable when they joined 26 years ago, and it's still laughable now. They'd fit in nicely in the MAAC, and would have been a good replacement for Monmouth (MAAC brought in Mount Saint Mary's as their replacement). But their egos of the people in charge their and their fans would never let that happen. I haven't been to Gola since going to a women's game about 10 years ago. From what I saw in TV, it looked exactly like it did 10 years ago.
