That means that schools in C-USA, MVFC, ASUN, Big Sky, CAA, Tennessee State, Chattanooga and some others could be grab before the WAC/ASUN comes to light.

(throws a couple darts) B1G, SEC, and big 12 is what I got. How about you?

Yep. That’s why this thing is dead in the water. All the schools know it, but they are pushing forward to raise money based on FBS, get more money from their admins, get appropriations for new facilities etc. And when it doesn’t work out, they can all say “oh, we didn’t know that was going to happen. But since we’ve gone this far, might as well keep spending until we can actually find a conference and be FBS”.

And they’re probably going to wreck the WAC in the process. All the longer term, basketball schools are probably going to hung out to dry. But they were the idiots that agreed to add the football schools, so it’s hard to feel too bad. Anybody could have seen this coming.

For that matter, *one* P5 conference could add schools from the G5, and this would pretty well torch the WAC, as long as the Pac 12 and Mountain West are left standing, even if badly bruised. Even the Big Sky might be looking at the WAC for spare parts depending on who the Mountain West adds.
