WBB Game 14: Delaware
Huge game early in the season. Delaware already dropped 1 to Monmouth, so this is an opportunity to starting building some distance. If we can start off 2-0 against Towson and Delaware, then we will really be in the driver's seat for that top seed. Delaware is a presumed top tier team, though Monmouth and Stony Brook are likely to stick around as well. There are 3 similar opponents: Longwood, Lehigh and Delaware State. Delaware wont all 3 as well by margins of 20, 12, 22 where our margin was 13, 23, 18. Needless to say, this should be a classic Delaware Drexel women's game. It very likely may come down to the last minute or even final shot. 6pm tip at home. Everyone should want to find a way to this one.

Delaware leads the CAA in field goal percentage defense (.360) and defensive rebounds per game (29.1), but you wouldn't know it the way Monmouth pulled away on 'em on Jan 1.
Hawks shoot well outside, but it was their defense: They shut down the Hens to the tune of 21 second-half points allowed/27-11 4Q win.
Drexel's offense is certainly capable of making you pay for your offensive meltdown, especially late in a game.
Not sure that UD has an individual answer for Washington's scoring. Klarke Sconiers is a key inside. Kharis Idom and/or Makayla Pippin need to join her in double figures if DEL is gonna keep it a classic rivalry game.
In the backcourt, watching to find out if Tara Cousins returns to action for Delaware at point. Nakiyah Mays-Prince (1-9 FG but 8 REB vs MONM) has been getting her minutes.

We did not play anywhere near our best and won by 17. Delaware is still going to win a lot of games, but they look more like a 4th/5th place team than one that will compete for a title. What a huge win though.

Delaware didn't look like a good team at all last night. Normally I'd say it was a revenge game for Drexel after getting beat by them in the CAAT, but the team last night was not regognizable at all. Only 3 players remain, and I assume none of the coaches either.

Yeah I felt the expectation to stay high up was a bit exaggerated after such turnover, but they continue winning and have the metrics in line with a team that should compete. But I can see how they lost by 20 to a Monmouth. I expect them to improve as the season goes on, and the return game will be quite a bit different.
