Next Big Ten Commissioner?
Of course we've heard the news, so who are you thinking is the next commissioner? I DON'T want Jim Phillips!

RE: Next Big Ten Commissioner?
Interesting list in this article.
My top three would be Silverman, Alberts and Vincent.

I don't know. Val Ackerman is an extremely good & talented commissioner of the Big East. I would give her a serious look!! The B1G could do a lot worse than Val Ackerman, IMO!! Alberts...really???

Alberts checks a lot if boxes for me. There is a UNO poster that stops by here, he'll probably disagree, but Trev did fabulous things at Omaha. Yes, he eliminated a very successful wrestling program, but the athletic department appears much more stable. Look at the situation prior to Albert's at Omaha; it was ugly!

He's been an athletic director, worked in TV and knows how to woo folks. Guy has a charisma about him.

Am I wrong to think the BIG needs to fill this position ASAP? Days are like years in this environment.

RE: Next Big Ten Commissioner?
The only point I against Ackerman is that she has no experience dealing with a football centric league . I would consider former Rutgers TE and Director of Athletics Tim Pernetti. Before that he was a VP at CBS Sports and is currently the President of a MLS team (NY/NJ FC?). He was the man that closed Rutgers invitation to the B1G.

Yes, it is a bit of a homer pick but I do believe he checks off many of the boxes that a modern commissioner needs:

1) Collegiate athletic experience.
2) Collegiate administration experience.
3) Insider knowledge of the sports media industry.
4) CEO experience within the sports industry.

That's a solid choice and I'd have no qualms with that.

RE: Next Big Ten Commissioner?
Any idea how long the search will last? All of the candidates mentioned in this thread (except maybe Muskie 04-cheers) seem viable. Any chance they are further along in this than we think? Maybe even to the point that Silverman, for instance, is already quietly on the job? I know I'm impatient, but it seems like this position needs to be filled quickly with all that is going on right now.
