Lopes welcome the Aggies to GCU Arena for one last time tonight. Hoping it goes down as an instant classic-type contest. Safe travels to anyone making the trip. With it being Super Bowl week, I also wish you and your wallets good luck with all dining and accommodation options. 04-cheers

I hate that this is going to be the last conference game between you two. Maybe OOC games. Even when we were in the SBC I always enjoyed this game between the Lopes and the Aggies.

I'm hopefully NMSU and GCU will continue to play games against each other in the future. But GCU would need to be willing to travel to Las Cruces, and vice versa. Sometimes coaches are unwilling to play OOC games against peer mid-major schools where the chances of losing are high.

Its ok, Seattle dude has been banned for rest of season, it is safe to come out and play...well mostly anyway. Good luck with UTA, should be a very good game! Winner should be safe to make WAC Tourney, the loser will be in a fight with UT, and NMSU for the last 2 spots.

For sure ACU will have their hands full with SHSU coming into Moody. We usually play close games though, so I expect a battle. With both of us having byes we should all be fresh. Would love to see a really good battle between the Aggies and the Lopes. Good luck Aggies.

RE: 2022-23 WAC MBB Week #14
Tarleton has played the first of four consecutive road games with us winning at UTA. We are at SUU and UT this week and at SFA next week before returning home against Sam Houston.

Freddie Hicks may be returning to form. Since returning from his injury, he has struggled. Scored 0 points in the first half against UTA but finished the game with 20. Smith had 19.

If we are to make any headway with the conference standings, we must win at least one of the next three road games. Going 3-1 on this trip would be awesome.

Have we improved enough to even the score with UTA on Thursday night? I'm thinking the combination of improved defense and playing at home will do the trick.

You're the one of the best of the board 'burger.

As for the game, you have a couple of superstars that can carry a team to a win. UTA has shown some progress this month, but are still pretty young. Hopefully it's a good game to watch either way.

Watching Seattle v Tech and the SU broadcast audio levels stink and always has stunk. Not to mention the guys suggested Cam Tyson is similar shooter to Ray Allen...

Tough game last night as NMSU almost came back to beat GCU on the road. I thought we played decent but dig ourselves a whole yet again. But credit to GCU they made some hustle plays especially on the boards. And idk how many times a GCU player put a dagger in us when we cut it to one possession. Their guys hit tough shot after tough shot. Good game most of the way.

I thought NMSU got a couple of homer calls against them that made a big difference.

I’m not gonna comment on officiating cuz obviously I’m biased but I think we lost the game with our bad three point shooting and free throw percentage. Free throws have been a huge problem this year. One game we’ll be 80% the next 50%. We’re usually a better three point shooting team than we showed last night. Sometimes they just don’t fall. I did like our defensive performance. GCU just hit some big time shots.

Your guys certainly came out strong from halftime. Just looked like they had a hard time sustaining it.

Thanks, 'burger. That was a strange game. Mavericks were up by 58-39, then went into a deep freeze for almost seven minutes as the Vacs went on a 14-0 run. We were lucky to escape at 64-58. Our "young team" has too often gone completely cold at the end of games. Maybe the coach should have them practice 25 minute halves, so they can wait until after the game to get cold. Even when we win, this end-choking happens. Hope the team gets over it soon.
