Would "Desperate Pac-12 commissioner woos Big XII reject" be an accurate headline?

LOL, SMU.
If they were really thinking, they'd nab Boise State. Sure they've declined but it's still a name that could draw well on TV in a growing state.

If you do golf with him, show him no mercy. He's going to try to lowball you guys, he needs to feel a bit intimidated.

Unfortunately, I think SMU is the better option by a mile.

I actually don't think so. None of the SBC schools left before, and they all appear to be sticking together and holding firm with their 14 schools, especially seeing in their eyes, the AAC add teams at similar payouts to their contract since the new additions to the AAC come in with a half-share of the current AAC contract. Seems like the AAC will have to settle for MTSU or FIU, maybe WKU.
TBH, if the MWC loses SDSU, I'm not sure if they even expand, I could see them staying put at 11 football schools and 10 full member schools since their options appear to only be UTEP or New Mexico St. The MWC could still play 8 conference games with 2 protected rivals with 11 football members.

We'd have the first university-president-on-university-president violence with the Cal/Stanford/Washington presidents murdering the others.

I've been saying San Diego State and SMU as the most likely Pac-12 candidates from the beginning here.

This would definitely be where we find out for good whether SBC schools would leave for the AAC. If AAC adds a C-USA school or Texas St, that tells us SBC schools were not interested. If a non-Texas St SBC school joins, then the AAC still has poaching power over the SBC.
If it's Army, then the question isn't settled. LOL

This is the internet, so clearly SMU should start painting "PAC-12" on their fields and courts tomorrow morning. Congratulations.
Now, both the MWC and AAC have to backfill one school. The Game Is Afoot!!

Honestly, Air Force might be the best case scenario for the AAC. Seen an argument that they should make the move to focus on the 80% of the country population for recruiting, but would they make the move now? Probably not, but maybe it happen if they were guaranteed SMU's full payout.
