No surprise that NU got severely beat in this one.

At least Cormier played 27 minutes to McClintock’s 13. I don’t know why Troutman was out or what his injury is.

It’s time for at least ONE of these freshmen to step up and play well this month going into the tournament.

RE: Hofstra
II didn't see the game but the box score told it's story. Doherty got into foul trouble again and Stucke cooled down. Cormier filled up the stat sheet and earned a lot of minutes....which is how Coen uses his players. That also explains how Harold started, missed two more threes ( now four for twenty-nine) and watched the rest of the game from the bench. There were a couple of other bright spots, too.

We MAY not have a freshman wo makes a big splash the first year but the potential is there.
Look at J. Carlos for Hofstra. He was hyped as an unstoppable PG before arriving but did next to zero as a Freshman. Now in his second year hr starts for them and last night he played over thirty minutes and had nine assists!

Hofstra won 72-53. Hofstra's three leading scorers for the seaon combined to shoot 16-43 (.372). Hofstra is good enough that they can have things go wrong and still win easily. Hofstra shot threes .286, attempted only 7 free throws, and had 5 fewer rebounds. You shot field goals .293 and threes .318, so you shot threes better than twos. Hofstra went up 8, and you came back and briefly led by 1. Tyler Thomas and Telfort tied for the most points in the first half with 14, but neither of them scored much in the second half. Thomas led all scorers with 18, Telfort scored 16 and was your only double-digit scorer, and Aaron Estrada scored 13. Pridgen, Stucke, and Doherty made 1 field each and combined to shoot 3-22 (.136). Pridgen led all players with 13 rebounds. Cormier had 3 assists, and was your only player with more than 1.

Last season Hofstra had Estrada average exactly 5 assists, Zach Cooks average exactly 3 assists, and Caleb Burgess average 2.5 assists in 15.4 minutes after the leading the CAA with 5.6 assists in 2020-2021. Last season, Carlos averaged almost as many assists per minute as Estrada. Hofstra did not need Carlos much, and Hofstra does not use their bench much. Cooks graduated, and Burgess transferred. Carlos leads the CAA in assist/turnover ratio with 2.57 and is the only player above 2.

RE: Hofstra
That is all true but I remember that when he DID play there was a lot of talk on your board about why he wasn't meeting expectaions.

RE: Hofstra
Overall, a really good effort tonight. Guys came out with a focused approach and played a great 1st half. The third quarter of the game was a combination of them making everything and us shooting ourselves in the foot. After that, we started to settle back in a bit and made some plays at the end. Hustle was excellent throughout.

If we lost this one, I think the season may have really, really gone sideways so hopefully we get a little wind in our sails from this. Quick turnaround Saturday.

We got a win and it was needed in the worse way. However, you knew they were going to allow Hofstra right back into the game.

Wiz, I've always seen the rap against the huskies of scoreless stretches as undeserved. It seems to me that most teams have stretches when there either seems to be a lid on the basket or every shot goes in. It seems like in most games I watch I hear the announcer say, "it's been three minutes and forty seconds since so as so has scored a basket." Didn't we take a big lead into halftime because Hofstra had a bad stretch of five minutes when we went seventeen to their two?
