NCAA Regionals
No surprise, Wake Forest gets #1 overall seed in the tournament, hosting A-10 champ George Mason, B10 champ Maryland, & Northeastern. Winner is paired with Tuscaloosa regional for Supers. The Demon Deacons are attempting to make their 1st CWS appearance since winning the national title in 1955.
Clemson gets #4 overall seed, hosting Tennessee, C-USA champ Charlotte, & A-Sun champ Lipscomb. Winner paired with Auburn regional in Supers. A 12x CWS finalist, the Tigers are seeking to make their 1st CWS appearance since 2010.
Virginia gets #7 seed, hosting Patriot League champ Army, Oklahoma, & East Carolina. Winner paired with Conway (SC) regional for Supers. The Cavaliers are trying to return to CWS for 1st time since 2021.
Miami wraps up ACC national seeds w/ #9, hosting Texas, Louisiana, & American East champ Maine. Winner is paired with Palo Alto regional for Supers. The 25x CWS finalists are trying to make their 1st appearance since 2016
(If all ACC national seeds advance to CWS, 3 of the 4 would be in same half of bracket - WF, Clemson, & Miami)
#2 seeds:
Boston College, who held national seed projections going into ACCT, find themselves heading to Tuscaloosa opposite #16 Alabama, Troy, & Southland champ Nicholls. This is a winnable region for the Eagles if they play to potential, & would set up a possible rematch w/ Wake in Supers in pursuit of their 1st CWS since 1967.
Duke heads to Conway to face #10 Coastal Carolina, CAA champ UNC-Wilmington, & MAAC champ Rider (who they split a midweek series w/). This looks to be a tough 1 for the Blue Devils. If Duke advances, could set up a rematch against Virginia for their 1st CWS appearance since 1961.
#3 seeds:
North Carolina heads to Terra Haute, pairing up with MVC champs/#14 Indiana State, Iowa, and Horizon champ Wright St. If the Tar Heels play like they did in pool play last week, they could find their way to next round. This regional is paired with Fayetteville (AR) regional for Supers. The 11x CWS finalists are seeking their 1st berth since 2018.
NC State travel to Columbia to match up w/ #15 South Carolina, Big South champ Campbell, & NEC champ Central Connecticut St. For life of me, I can't wrap my head around SC being a national seed - this was strictly a metrics call due to their RPI, & not factoring in the 4-11 finish through month of May. I feel that Campbell is the team to beat here. The Wolfpack are seeking a return to the CWS since their fateful 2021 appearance.
