What a game. Start to finish, the Dukes played hard, especially on defense. Used the last loss to light the fire.

Great win! One down, two to go. Stay focused on the prize!
Hope Kiki is ok, and the FT shooting improves.
Seems the court is slippery in places. Could that be because of the ice under the floor? That needs to be fixed pronto.
Go Dukes!

Seems to be a common issue for arenas that have hockey/ice rinks. Was a problem at Richmond Coliseum also. Guess either some of the ice melts, or you get condensation effects, etc. Not sure if a full solution exists outside a new venue when they try to make them dual purpose. Maybe someone needs to invent a better moisture barrier layer/system for these arenas.

Yeah they've been having a lot of trouble with that, especially in the later games. It was real bad in the ULM/GS game last night. I was saying in another thread I'm glad our women have early games throughout and our men will until the semis so hopefully it's not as bad for those games.

This is potentially a dangerous situation for the players. A slip or twist could see a knee or ankle seriously messed-up. Otherwise the venue has looked okay to me, but melting ice under the floor making it slippery is a no-go.

Yeah always frustrating to see, seems pretty common with courts on top of oceans especially having multiple games played on it back to back. I remember it being a problem many times in Richmond. Definitely dangerous plus just can impact the result of a game.
Overall the arena is definitely pretty outdated but it's nothing terrible. They go all out with everything everywhere SBC and it's nice that they aren't strict about tickets so you can just pretty much sit wherever you feel like, with whichever team you feel like. Our tickets are right behind the bench that's been the higher seed up until ULM/GS last night, since then it's been the lower seed so that would've sucked for this morning's game if we couldn't move.
There's a fan fest tomorrow we'll definitely check out, looking forward to seeing how that is. All in all seems to me like they do everything right, it's just an arena that could really use some renovations.

Usually a condensation issue with the ice under the floor. Worse in high humidity areas like Pensacola particularly if the building HVAC can not keep the air dehumidified properly. With Pensacola right on the water I would think this would be a serious issue later in the day as it warms up and the humidity goes up.

Dukes did a good job on Marshall's top two scorers Scott and Beeman Scott averages almost 18 pts/gm and was held to 12 today and Beeman is close to 14/gm and scored 11.
Goof D by the Dukes

I agree. Plus, if it's happening around the free thow line, what's probably happening is that's where the weight is centered during game play. There's probably a layer of foam insulation under the court that's getting compressed near the foul line, causing more cold to seep through the floor, causing condensation.
The long-term fix is better insulation under the court - preferably something with a sizable air gap so any insulating blankets don't get crushed. A short-term fix would be a heated blanket on top of the court so the wood stays warm enough to keep condensation from forming on the top of it.
