Tech and SEMO going to OT. Refs had to review the tape to confirm Tech’s final shot was for two, not the three for the win.

Ivy League:

Only four make it. Cornell makes it as the 4th seed. Cornell plays Yale and Penn plays Princeton. The entire tournament is at Princeton! SF Saturday, F Sunday.

I didn't say it was over, I clearly allowed for the possibility the call would be reversed. I even wrote "0:00" instead of FINAL as I do for most games that reach triple zeroes. I even posted an update the next post.

Technically Fairleigh Dickinson was the first to clinch but they are the first conference tournament champion.

Because of eligibility rules, Merrimack can’t win the bid, so FDU is technically the first bid.

I think San Diego State is the only lock here but I do see potential here. With Utah State's win over Boise State, they've finally picked up a Quad 1 win! Boise State and Utah State could potentially meet in the SF and if Utah State wins they should move ahead of BSU in the MWC pecking order as they would hold a 2-1 edge over the Broncos (BSU would still have 3 Quad 1 wins vs. 2 for USU and BSU currently has no Quad 4 losses while Utah State has two).

Nevada actually has four Quad 1 wins and no Quad 4 losses (two Quad 3 losses though). Their NET is currently 33. I mean Providence now has the same two Quad 3 losses, a NET of 39, and only three Quad 1 wins (the NET is as of Friday games but Saturday's losses are included as Quad 3 losses for each). If Nevada wasn't in the MWC they'd probably be a more solid in (or Providence would be more of a bubble team). I'd say definitely win their first game, beating San Diego State and they absolutely should be in, that would be five Quad 1 wins. If a team with five Quad 1 wins and a NET in the 30's is left out, there is absolutely a mid major bias.

It's a good bracket for Providence as they are probably the one team that might have cost themselves a bid in New York losing to Georgetown or DePauk. Even a loss to UConn probably won't cost them a bid. The only bubble drama I see here is (Homer warning!) if Villanova wins it all and steals a bid. This is actually a pretty good draw for them, they've beaten Creighton and Xavier in the last two weeks (Xavier at Xavier), if Villanova fans haven't given up on the season yet they should easily have home crowd advantage over both, especially over a team west of the Mississippi in New York. I would be worried home court wise if it's Villanova vs. Seton Hall and Seton Hall destroyed Providence up in Rhode Island. The two teams if I'm 'Nova I really don't want to see are Marquette, the clear class of the Big East this year and the UConn team that beat us yesterday in Philly and will this year likely have more fans in the Garden than anyone else and Villanova will only have to play one of them.

With BYU and Santa Clara's NET rankings in the 80's, is that a "safe" area for the NIT? Crazy to think how much better the WCC was as a whole this year, but that gap in NET between Gonzaga and Saint Mary's against the rest of the field.
