WAC NCAA Tournament Payout
I was doing the math and the remaining 11 schools will get about $160,000 from the NCAA Tournament 6 year payout later this year. Sam Houston and New Mexico State won't get a penny from the WAC contribution but will get about $378,000 from the CUSA contribution, SH and NMSU banking on FAU's NCAA run.

I actually think both are wrong. I don’t think the WAC schools will be getting equal amounts because some were not even in the conference when some of the tourney money was earned. I thought the payouts were divided among the schools who were members when it was earned, provided they are still around. That’s pretty normal for most conferences, but we could have used some of the money as bait to get some of the new members. But I doubt it.

And I don’t believe any new CUSA schools will receive anything earned from before we were members. I think the 5 remaining schools will be splitting all of it.

There is a discussion of this going on in the CUSA area that might be of interest to people.

I don't think that is accurate.

I may be wrong. I’m primarily going off what I read on here in other forums and news from general realignment trends.

I do believe that media money is immediately shared among all members however. So we’d get whatever money comes from CUSA media deals regardless.

I’m sure someone has more of an inside knowledge than me. They are welcome to chime in.

If that is true, while the WAC schools will get around $160,000 from their 6 year NCAA payout, NMSU will get $208,000 for FAU's NCAA Tournament run. Still an upgrade at the end because this run is worth 1.25 million over the next 6 years and of course add more payouts over the next 5 years It's a nice start.

What is the point of this thread? Is this some sort of haha NMSU is in CUSA and gets more money than the WAC post. Dude seriously you give us Aggie fans a bad name. Stop with these weird flex posts. Yeah we gave the WAC a parting gift of extra money but we are riding the coattails of FAU. Just stop dude. No one likes an in your face fan.

RE: WAC NCAA Tournament Payout
This was clearly Frank thumbing his nose at the WAC. I, for one, am great full for the WAC and am amazed at the progress this conference has had in a relative short timeframe. I’m glad we get to continue playing these teams as part of the CUSA/WAC scheduling agreement.

GO AGGIES!!
