RE: Flugaur: FSU Money Perch reveals FSU's options
FSU are grasping at straws that they know that they can't break.

RE: Flugaur: FSU Money Perch reveals FSU's options
Flugaur's BTM source is in the U of Minnesota finance office. It's reasonable to assume that BTM knows finance personnel in other Universities, so I think Money Perch refers to a finance person at another university. Perch would simply mean like a bird sitting, or perching, on a branch.

I could turn up no evidence that 'money perch' is an accounting term. Or any other kind of term, really. Google it yourself, though, and tell us if you find anything.
My suggestion went with the only evidence that materialised: 'money pouch' is a slang term.

I don't think I would want to break any of those straws.

It's not an accounting term. I think it's Flugaur's fanciful way of saying the view from the financial office of a university, based on his sources contacts in the finance offices of the other universities. "Money" as in finance and "Perch" as in a view or perspective from a position. The Money Perch at ASU, for example, would be a source in the ASU financial office.

Flugaur just had an episode today and he tried to explain the money perch question and he was talking about the ASU money perch specifically. I believe his statement was the ASU money perch was a person with a lot of money they were donating to the athletic department. So money perch = Big money donor's... at least that was the way I interpreted his confusing explanation, Lol

I'm definitely not saying he should be your source of realignment news but he's not terrible. He more often than not reads articles by people we scream about on this site, he gives his opinion like any of us would.
His references to the money perch are boosters. From what he's said he has a booster contact at Minnesota, FSU, and Arizona state.
As far as his speech, he was born deaf and had to learn to speak. So yeah he struggles with words but it's kind of understandable.
Take everything he says with a grain of salt but I would place him above a lot of the other YouTube and Twitter characters we talk about here.
Edit; read about the man for yourself, https://www.latimes.com/sports/usc/story...ve-big-ten
Well said. I respect Greg. He knows he's not the be-all and end-all on conference realignment, but also realizes he has some insiders that channel information through him.

Ah. That stands to reason. It's kinda cute, actually.
If so, the thing that threw me was when he said several times that 'FSU has a money perch' like that in itself was news. Every university has a bursar's office or a comptroller or something.. A special money manager overseeing funding for a conference switch , perhaps?
