I expect to be somewhere between 6-6 and 8-4 in football this season.

I expect to be above .500 in basketball this season...how far above will depend on the nonconference schedule.

I’d be thrilled with 6-6. It’s a transition year. I expect 4-8.
There are 2 autowins. I just don't see uc going 2-8 in the other 10 games.

RE: '23 Spring Game Observations
There's not a single game that I look at on the schedule and write it off as a loss. Maybe OK St on the road.

I think we will beat EKU, the Foreskins, Iowa st, Baylor, UCF, Houston and Kansas.

We can also beat Pitt, BYU, WVU on the road.

Oklahoma sounds daunting but they really weren't worth a crap last season and their QB is UCF's castoff.

So again, what are we so afraid of????

I have been expecting about 8-4, but the rest of you guys have me worried.

And I agree that our offense was not nearly as good as it should have been, and that I think our head coach in particular was already dreaming of cheese curds last season.

I can't even begin to predict how we will do...new coach, new QB, entirely new offensive/defensive schemes, new conference, etc. There have been too many changes to really make an assessment.

I think worst case is 5-7, best case 8-4.

RE: '23 Spring Game Observations
If we're playing the game:

vs. EKU - Best and Worst case is a Win
at Pitt - more likely to lose that win, but still a toss-up
vs. Miami - Best and Worst case is a Win
vs. Oklahoma - loss
at BYU - on a short week, but they lost essentially every offensive impact guy from last year, more likely than not a Win
vs. Iowa State - complete toss-up
vs. Baylor - complete toss-up
at Oklahoma State - loss
vs. UCF - toss-up, though more likely win than loss
at Houston - toss-up, though more likely win than loss
at West Virginia- complete toss-up
vs. Kansas - complete toss-up

So I'm looking at 2 wins, 2 losses, and 8 toss-ups, with 3 of those seeming more like a win than a loss.

Best case would be we win all of our toss-ups and go 10-2 (nearly impossible) and worst case would be we lose all of them and go 3-9 (nearly impossible). I think it's fair to expect us to go anywhere between 3-4 and 5-2 in toss-up games and ending up between 5-7 and 7-5 this year, with a winnable bowl game at the end of it all.

I'm not ready to mark Oklahoma coming into a rowdy Nippert Stadium as a loss just yet.

At one point Wisconsin had like 6 scholarship QBs...I don't think the two are related, although that would be an incredible full-circle moment for him.

Yeah same. It’s not the same Oklahoma program until if/when they win under new coach. Also, if we are at least 2-1 going into the game then Nippert will be rocking hopefully like never before.

No relation to this game but when they came to PBS in 2011 ranked #8, they beat us by 2 points in a season we won 4 games and were 1-2 going into the game.

Will they have better talent? Yes
Is the talent difference like Georgia/Bama? No
Am I wondering if Oklahoma ever gets back to where they’ve been for so long with new coach and move to SEC? Yes

Im still learning Big 12 myself and don’t follow any of teams yet as close as I’m use to in our previous conferences but I see little difference in Baylor or Oklahoma next season at this point outside brand name and generally better recruiting over the recent classes.

Tyler Mordecai is a better QB than Ben Bryant. Better passer. Better runner.

He performed like a D3 backup against Cincinnati when Fickell was the coach here...after reading up on their Spring Game, I'm wonder if him consistently being in close proximity to Fickell again has had that same effect.

RE: '23 Spring Game Observations
Record is going to come down to OLine. The only position fick never recruited successfully. The number of projects and long shots he took to compensate was wild to watch. We had a hockey player, a german, multiple FCS transfers, walk ons, the kid from the little kentucky christian school, even his own son, etc trying to find any way to compensate.

I was honestly shocked how bad last years oline was. I really dont know what to expect out of this years group, but i would guess at or near the bottom of the Big12.

Really? Still with the Foreskin "joke"? It's a terribly old joke and wasn't clever or funny in the first place. AND redskins hasn't even been their mascot in over a quarter century. It's as lame as a joke as "Bearkittens"is for us.

Yep. He was useless the last two years against us. This past year the defense broke him…. Literally he left the game in 2022 late in the third quarter on a cart if I recall. The backup came in and scored some late garbage point to make the final score than the game was. In 2021 they only had 3 on the board until he scored a TD on their final drive.

2022: 15/25 105 yards, 1TD/1INT
2021: 15/26 66 yards 1 TD (late in game)

If Ben put up numbers like that you guys would have had a cow.
