WVU's president is Gordon Gee who was removed as OSU's president after making a few "offensive" remarks. I used quotes as I don't really think what Gee said was insensitive, just made in jest.

That was nothing more than a good natured jab by Huggs at Cunningham, who is a X grad and Catholic. That's all Huggs needs to say relative to an apology. BTW Cunningham was MC of the Huggins roast back in 2006. WVU had a super solid portal transfer class and Cunningham asked if any were X players, he should have just no because their GPAs were to low or something like that.

IMO, the apology statement issued by Huggins should be sufficient to move on from this. He said a nasty offensive thing and he apologized, that's what you should do.

But given our culture these days, it probably won't be.

Huggins' apology did acknowledge the word was awful to use and he didn't make any excuses for using it.

Foul language, no doubt, from the old master, Bobby Huggins. Not appropriate but I don't think he should be fired or even strongly punished. I've used far worse language, insulting folks of every creed, color and gender. I sometimes insult myself.

We live in a nasty, self-entitled, narcissistic and confrontational society. I accept that reality (and the fact that I sometimes contribute to that nastiness) and try to do my best to improve myself.

Huggs has his flaws but I strongly feel he has a big heart.

If West Virginia University is of the view that it is acceptable for senior personnel to use anti-gay slurs against Catholics, then it should take no action here.

Yeah I also got banned for months and haven't repeated it. If you want to it personal that's fine.

He's gone... you had a dude at OSU accidently read out the "N" word and was forced to resign. There is no way you recover from this in this day and age. Sad, but inevitable.

I'm not so sure. IMO, the "N" word is kind of in a category of its own in that regard.

That said, it wouldn't surprise me if Huggins is forced out.
