Civil rights marches, Vietnam protest, Irish bomb era, assassinations, internment camps, genocide of native Americans, labor Union riots and union busting efforts post WWI, gang wars, KKK over decades just to name a few. While are in challenging times now we have always had a violent history. We pay attention when it impacts us individually.

What I don't particularly care for is your affinity for dog whistle racism.

You 'progressives' have a cool sounding name or acronym for everything. It's one of the things that you do best because it appeals to and fools the ignorant and the willfully blind.

People know what a dog whistle is.

People do not inherently know what culcha is you freaking hypocrite.

Go play in traffic.

The decades of woeful mcs education has fully caught up to us.

To relate this to our university, the last time I checked more than 1/3 of students needed remedial classes before they could be admitted to college level classes.

It’s definitely UM related but since some don’t want to acknowledge it it will soon be relegated to another board.

What are your solutions to tackle the issue?

Poverty and racism are often cited as the causes of crime.

The Brookings Institute (not a conservative entity) lists three simple rules for poor teens to follow to join the middle class.

The rules follow:
1. Obtain at least a high school diploma.
2. Get a full-time job
3. Wait until age 21 to get married and have children.

https://www.brookings.edu/opinions/three...dle-class/

IMO, the fourth rule (not listed) is staying off drugs.

None of the rules have anything to do with race , but rather generally enacted by individual choice.

In general, therefore, all interested institutions should focus their resources on helping people help themselves.

Middle class is at least 70,000 thousand a year. What job is an 18 year high school graduate going to get that pays 70 thousand per year?

Anecdotal stories either way don't matter. The factual statistics do.

The question is: How to correct it in today's social climate of 'Fukk the Police' and defund the police, etc.?

I would not be a police officer in any major metropolitan area even for $1,000,000 a year much less the underpaid amounts they actually get.

You know what that leads to? Many of the best candidates for those jobs doing other things - which then leads to more poor police work which fuels the left's ridiculous agenda.

It starts with education and mental health. Not policing

Oh, I have many times. My brother lived there for years. I've been in Atlanta rush hour traffic more times than I can remember. I didn't say Memphis was the ONLY place to not get a speeding ticket.

But I think a respect for police and laws is pretty high up there.

What does "East Memphis Devils" mean in dog whistle?
07-coffee3 East Memphis devils is a term one of our black leaders (maybe the mayor at the time) came up with for the white people that lived in east Memphis.

I call bs. We have very good health care here. Semmes Murphy is one of the best Neuro Groups in the country. People come from all over. Lebonheur is a magnet children's hospital with some of the top docs in the land as well.

Had to move the thread. Getting a little dicey. Wish I could move it to the political forum so I could comment honestly but I can’t move it there.

Carry on
