FedEx gutting express ground ops.
I have a friend that started with me in the hub in the early 80's while going to Memphis State. Both became couriers in NC for awhile. I left and moved back but he got into management and moved back also. He said that they are laying off the bulk of the couriers and managers at Express. Express will now be handled by the contract Ground drivers.

Wow that’s just sad

Our fedex contract drivers have no health insurance and get treated like ****,
They don’t get paid much either.

Prepare for it to get worse. A lot worse. Thanks to the green deal BS many companies are making drastic changes to keep their market share.

seems like fringes were about 40% of pay, thats why contractors are cheaper

automation, robots and ai will eliminate so many jobs

saw recently, any 20-29 year old working in the hedge fund business will be replaced by AI models

(football and basketball coaches probably next)

it's funny...we are headed straight into the future that the science fiction writers showed us back in the 50s and 60s. A lot of those early writers were scientists themselves...I guess they had insider info.

That's the deal, the Express drivers were well paid. I made great money in the 80's and 90's being a courier. All of the founding management is now retired. Express was the core product that built the company.

I thought they were having issues with ground contract companies -- and now they're moving toward that model instead of away.

:(
