Forget the Indictment for Just a Minute …
Forget the indictment for just a minute.
An indictment that I consider to be purposeful - - in order to promote a politically weak Donald Trump to the forefront of the Republican presidential nomination process. Whereas others think the indictment is indicative of the political strength of Donald Trump - - and the fear of his enemies and the enemies of this nation. We’re not going to solve that difference of opinion, at least not in this thread.
Instead, ask the more basic question of WHY Donald Trump would have created this document mess in the first place. WSJ’s ancient prune of a pundit Peggy Noonan offers this answer:
Quote:What were Mr. Trump’s motives? Why would he refuse to give the documents back, move them around Mar-a-Lago, mislead his own lawyers about their status and content?
Because everything’s his. He is by nature covetous. “My papers” he called them.
Because of vanity: Look at this handwritten letter. Kim Jong Un loves Trump. See who I was? Look at this invasion plan.

Maybe there are better, more justifiable, explanations. I’m open to hearing them.

RE: Forget the Indictment for Just a Minute …
All the debauchery going on in our country, all the festering evil, much of it aimed at children, all the misery and suffering and mental illness, and yet most of what you see on TV or online is Trump Trump Trump. He’s like some dime store Jesus that a huge part of the population has given their soul to. Or a dime store Satan for many, like you.
So many people spending huge chunks of their lives thinking about and debating about and arguing about and obsessing about Donald J Trump, while I frankly don’t think he makes a difference either way at this point. The evil that pervades this country, hell the entire world it seems, that appears to hold all of us in its grasp, is far greater than him. He’s just another distraction for all us little people.
It’s basically how magic tricks work. “Hey look over there”.

That's really what its all about. Whether you are for Him or despise him its all about redirecting focus to him instead of all the chaos and corruption that has gripped every corner of our republic and society.
Trump, the Democrates, the Media and many of the voters are all guilty of it.

Curious, any guilt directed toward the Christian fundamentalists who seemingly want to take us to a real-life version of The Handmaid's Tale?

RE: Forget the Indictment for Just a Minute …
I viewed Trump with hesitant optimism the first go round. I wanted to see how a 'businessman' would run the country as it was obvious that career politicians were terrible at the job. Overall I was pleased. The work that Trump did getting conservative and constitutionally minded judges on various courts around the country has at least slowed the progressive rot for the next 25-40 years. The US didn't get involved in any new conflicts, adversaries remained in line, and big-govt seemed to be put on a diet. I think Trump was naïve about just how big of a deal the deep state was and to what extent it held the real power in the US.
This go round I want him to go full scorched earth. Anybody he has the ability to fire should be fired on day one. Declassify everything that doesn't severely damage national security. Drop all the dirty secrets, our own included, and let the world burn. It's time for a reset and I would rather it be done with the best interest of the US in mind and not those of China, the ME, or the democratic socialists in Europe. The US is in a serious state of decay, poisoned by career politicians who have long ago forgotten the reason they were in DC. Their interests aren't our own interests. I'm not necessarily saying Trump's interests are our own as well, but what he said and did publicly his first go round was far better than what any president since Reagan has said and done.
I'll take his mean tweets, narcissistic personality, proclivity for exaggerating, little white lies, etc. for four more years. Maybe it's because I'm getting older and more cynical, but I just wanna watch the liberals cry and the world burn.

Interesting...sorta sounds like the stuff of dictators. Which is exactly why I say trump is a threat to our democracy.
But as you hint at...there's zero guarantee this would be done solely for our country and NOT for him personally.

I don't think anyone here will dispute Trump's ego.. He's an ego maniac, but I think to run for that office you have to have a touch of it, Trump however has more than a touch, pinch, or even a spoonful.. I'd say he's got a few gallons.
However, pay attention to what happens as these indictments are rolling out what else is happening.. Be aware of the things over the last few years, what Trump is being accused of, the Dems and their leaders are doing.

Dictators use their power to silence dissent and imprison and/or murder their adversaries. Trump is full of hot air, acts like a child, and wages smear campaigns on his adversaries, but he is no dictator. Melodramatic a little?

Destroying the country is a byproduct of voting Democrat and it's ok as long as they take everyone's feelings into account...

I'm simply choosing to ignore all the indictment nonsense. Any non-partisan person knows it's just more of the Russia type nonsense. From day one it's been based solely on partisan politics. It's astounding and embarrassing.

Some people, like AM, believe they're trying to make sure Trump is on the '24 ballot, while many others believe they're trying to keep him off the '24 ballot. No matter which you believe, either is of course possible, the entire indictment is nothing more than a charade, no different from Russia Russia Russia.
I won't even bother mentioning the fools that believe this is actually some attempt at "justice".
Oh wait I just did.

The bigger question is why Trump's documents were so more of a national threat than all the others... who you all know damn well took documents as well an no one said a word.
