Apparently, this is a very big deal. This will be the second announced Virginia location, but it will be the first of the two to open in 2025, the other in 2027 (New Kent County off of I64).

New Buc-ees just opened in Sevierville, TN, east of Knoxville off I40 (My sister lives north of Knoxville). I know a lot of people atill aren't familiar with them. 1st location opened in TX in 2003. Now 46 locations throughout the south: TX, Bama, FL, GA, SC, TN, KY. More locations set to open in those states + Missouri, Colorado and now VA. Largest convenience stores in the world. The largest one (until they open a bigger one in TX) is the new one in Sevierville, 74k sq feet (avg grocery store 40k), 120 gas pumps. Usually Uber busy with hundreds of customers, but are made to handle that (employee around 200).

The prepared food blows away any convenience or grocery store chain. At the BBQ station alone have BBQ, roast beef, brisket, sausage, chicken, turkey etc sandwiches.

Cheapest ice in the country. Was getting 20 lb bags of ice for $.99. This April I noticed they’d gone up to $1.99. Still most places pay $4-$5+ a bag.

They have bunch of stuff for grilling, camping, the beach, water sports, boating, fishing, etc. Plus t shirts & casual clothing, A lot of it pro ‘Merica, military, 1st responder, cammo, redneck slogans, etc. Plus tons of nick nacks of the type you’d see in Cracker Barrel. I've only been to the ones off I95 (Florence, SC; St Augustine, FL; Daytona)-I imagine the ones further from the coast won't have as much beach, water sports, boating, salt water fishing stuff.

What they are really famous for are their bathrooms, which are GINORMOUS. And they are FANATICAL about keeping them clean.

Looking forward to experiencing it. I am surprised the one in New Kent is opening later than the one in Mt. Crawford, given that New Kent was announced first.

I've suddenly heard a lot about Bucee in the last year and many of my coworkers are very excited they're coming to down. Location is everything, and that interchange is a perfect location for their business in my opinion.

Bucees is legit. From all accounts they pay and treat their employees very well.

Some years ago I was in San Antonio and drove up to Austin for the day. I had never heard of Buc-ee's, but crested a hill on the Interstate and saw one sprawled out below. My jaw hit the seat in disbelief at the size. You really can't appreciate the size until you see it for yourself. Unfortunately I didn't have the time to stop and go inside.
