2023 Football Season - Predictions
With the season a week away, just curious what the expectations are for the upcoming season. I’m hopeful that with another season under his belt that Grayson James can lead us to a bowl season. Schedule is about as easy as it has been in years. Media/Vegas seem to think we’ll be worse than last year and finish at the bottom of the standings with Sam Houston. Personally, I lean toward 6-6 with wins against Maine, UConn, NMSU, UTEP, Sam Houston, and Jacksonville State. Could see us winning at LT and North Texas/Liberty (new QB) but have best case at 8-4 and worst at 4-8.

Anybody else? Thoughts?

8/26 @ LT
9/2 vs Maine
9/9 vs North Texas
9/16 @ UConn
9/23 vs Liberty
10/4 @ NMSU
10/11 vs UTEP
10/18 @ Sam Houston
10/25 vs Jacksonville St
11/11 @ MTSU
11/18 @ Arkansas
11/25 vs WKU

I think worst case is 1-11 with a win against Maine. Winnable games are LT, Maine, North Texas, UCONN, NMSU, UTEP, SHSU, JSU and MTSU. I think y’all pick up one or two more. I’d bet on 3-9. UCONN is much better so I’m not confident there and some of the teams you matchup well with are on the road. Best case would be 6-6 imo.

UConn is definitely better than they were a few years ago. I always mark the MTSU game as a loss on the schedule (like FAU), we can never seem to win regardless of each others records. I’m a fan so my view is probably overly optimistic.

I’d take 6-6. At 3-9, we’d need to start considering year 3 of MacIntyre as potentially the last. I wouldn’t be terribly surprised as I was never convinced he was the right selection but would like to avoid the whole new coach thing for a bit.

I think he was a great hire personally. I think a 3-9 season is pretty decent honestly. Now if next year there isn’t a step forward I’d start debating how long should he be around.
