Personally, I have no specific problem with the movie, but I have no interest in seeing it. People can insinuate that I'm homophobic, but the truth is that I wouldn't go see this movie if it was a film about two HETEROSEXUALS going up to a mountain and having a love affair. In fact I'm sure I wouldn't want to see that. Now I'm supposed to be obligated or "guilted in" to go see it because its about two gay guys, just to protect my liberal bonafides here in Washington DC?

And thats the other thing, I resent the constant "you HAVE to go see this movie" from all the self-anointed culture vultures around me... and when I say I'm not interested in it, its immediatedly suggested that I'm afraid the movie will turn me gay. WTF? I mean, how obnoxious is that? I never saw Schindler's List, either. Must be an anti-semite.

There was a syndicated column appearing in my local paper by Leonard Pitts admonishing straight men go see Brokeback Mountain, insisting that the only reason they won't see it is that they are "afraid" of the content or insecure. After reading the column, I came away thinking that the only reason Pitts saw the film was that he was afraid of being thought of as homophobic by his peers. Personally, I'm not afraid of people thinking that about me. I'm secure enough in my attitudes about homosexuality that it doesn't matter if other people get the wrong idea from me not going to see a movie I flat out have no interest in.

What "Gay Agenda"? To get everyone to dress well and listen to show tunes?

Oh, wait. The REAL "Gay Agenda", which is to have the same rights as everyone and be treated with dignity and respect. I see.

No, I think he's talking about the "Gay Agenda" where our society is forced to abandon our long-held morals.

I think he's also talking about the "Gay Agenda" where homosexuals are assigned to school counselar jobs where they counsel our children with their propoganda.

Or maybe he's talking about the "Gay Agenda" that demands that the Boy Scouts of America give up their right to keep homosexual males from being Scout Masters.

I think he also may be talking about the "Gay Agenda" where men are pushing to change 'age of consent' laws so they can have sex with underage boys. This particular group is called N.A.M.B.L.A. -- North American May-Boy Love Association.

It's interesting to see how Gay Rights parades are portrayed on the news. You see activists and celebrities on platform voicing their concerns. You don't see what the news outlets refuse to broadcast -- the acts of sexual perversion taking place on public streets as a part of the parade.

I think I will pass. For some reason the thought of two cowboys humping each other is still rather sick and disgusting to me. Don't plan on that changing in this lifetime. The queer community in California is succeeding is forcing their amoral lifestyle on the rest of the country I guess. Sad to see happen. I still prefer movies with good looking women getting naked and actually enjoying male sex partners. Don't see that changing in this lifetime either.

What I find funny is if you have two gay guys everyone gets their panties in a wad...especially men. Yet have two gay women go at it and its all well and good and we cheer it on--and have fantasies about it too.

What gives? Double standard I guess. :banned:

Surely a real 'gay agenda' would include a dastardly plan to make all Americans thin, clean, and neat--just like on Seinfeld*.

(*not that there's anything wrong with that);-)

Gee, call me crazy, but not being a woman, it doesn't have quite the same affect that two queer men together does. Call me not politically correct, but this whole country is being force fed an agenda from a gruop in the entertainment business who live a sick and immoral lifestyle. If they want to live that lifestyle in private, who cares. When they try and force me to accept it as moral and normal, they can forget it.

But who's forcing you go see the movie? It's your choice if you want to see it or not.

Well wizard, where exactly did I say I was being forced to see the movie. What is being forced upon America through tv, print media and motion pictures is the supposedly acceptance of a variant, sick lifestyle.

Actually, I think this whole country is being forcefed homophobia under narrowminded and outmoded definitions of 'morality', but that's just my take--not that anybody asked for it.

Well I don't hear many women fantasizing about 2 gay dudes doing their thing. This topic might have to go to the spin room. 05-stirthepot

BlazinHeat Wrote:It did well at the Golden Globes Monday Night along with Walk The Line (which I did see and it was a very good movie).

The funniest line I heard about the BrokeMyBackWhileIDidHimOnThe Mountain movie was when Joan Rivers got miffed at a celebrity for not doing an interview with her.

She said, "He was too busy trying to see what they were going to say about HumpBack Mountain!"

Imagine the voice of Joan Rivers saying that and you would understand why it was funny. Jimmy Kimmel played the clip of her saying that and it was a hoot.
I bet all of the Louisville fans have seen it. It's a movie about *their* people.

And I thought God was punishing us because stores like Target and Wal-Mart say "happy holidays". 05-stirthepot

EagleRock,

I misread your reply. But still, nobody can force you to "accept" anything. Not TV, not print media, not Hollywood and certainly not people. It's like people who think there's a "war" against Christianity. NOBODY can take God and your faith out of you. NOBODY.

I'm done with this thread. There will always be disagreements on just about everything.

Wow, what ignorance!

So there is no war against Christianity? Just because you are not involved doesn't mean that it is not happening. Please give me a break.

This thread is exponentially more disgusting, and frightening, than anything I saw in Brokeback Mountain. I guess it's my fault for assuming that everyone that posted here was somewhere above the age of 16...at least emotionally. There's so many logical, common sense arguments I can make here, but it's all just pissing in the wind. Enjoy your ignorance...and when you look back on your lives, I hope the scenery in your little homogenized boxes you built for yourselves and your families was worth it. (Oh crap, I used a "homo" word...)

When you have one major political party that does all it can to ban God in our lives and bases its political identity on killing unborn babies, nothing surprises me anymore.
With the N.O. mayor and his chocolate world he wants to live in and Hillaty comparing Republicans to plantation owners, I guess they are above all of this stuff.
