Virginia AG to NCAA: JMU wants special treatment
JMU apparently still thinks that they shouldn't have to follow the rules that were in place when they made decisions. Their argument seems to be "can we just not follow the rules?"

NCAA to Virginia AG: Maybe you should follow the rules?

To be fair, it IS a stupid rule. Makes sense going down...makes no sense at all going up.

It is a stupid rule, but it's also pretty poor form to only challenge the rule when it negatively affects you. This is essentially the same as when JMU challenged the CAA's rule about postseason ineligibility for schools leaving the conference, only a few years removed from voting for it to be enforced on other schools.

It's a dumb rule, but this would ring truer if they were contesting the rule before they were 6-0.

Final ruling: a hard no from the NCAA. Jacksonville St. (Alabama) and Tarleton St. (FCS in Texas) also were included.

Virginia AG to NCAA: JMU wants special treatment
I think it is pretty funny seeing JMU and it's fan base doing the all too familiar victim route. I remember a similar thread when they exited the CAA and were outraged that they would be denied the CAA autobid for the playoffs. Same argument now as before. These aren't new rules and they knew what they signed up for. It wasn't an issue for them until it was an issue for them. JMU is having a great season and I feel for the athletes, but without rules and an ability to enforce, what's the point of a sanctioning body? JMU administrators should channel that outrage into getting the NCAA to change the rule so future teams aren't denied. I have a feeling that once it doesn't apply to them, they will have moved on and don't care anymore.

I wonder what the dropoff next year will be.

Admirable season and everything fell into place, but im guessing Cignetti gets picked off by a low level P5 and their overperforming transfer QB is drafted.

On top of that, they've shown in the past that they want the rules enforced when it's other schools. For example, when VCU, ODU, GMU, Richmond, ECU left they were fine with schools that were leaving not being allowed to participate in conference tournaments.

Yep. That's why I said once they are bowl eligible this heinous unfairness to JMU that needs to be fought for won't be a big deal for them anymore.

RE: Virginia AG to NCAA: JMU wants special treatment
If you’re feeling down, head over to the JMU page and read the last couple of weeks of their collective manic depression…but if you just want the Cliff Notes:

- We deserve to be in the CFP.
- We’re gonna sue the NCAA.
- What? We’re dropping the case just because we lost to Appy St? The Attorney General should never show his face on campus again.
- What? Our administration told them to drop the case? Our president sucks, and we’re gonna lose our coach.
- Hey! We backed into a bowl game! We DESERVE a NY6 game!
- What? Our coach is leaving? JMU President still sucks!
- Wait, what? We’re playing in a third tier bowl game in Ft Worth on Dec 23? That’s too close to Christmas. I can’t go. #GoDukes!

Can’t make this stuff up.

It warms the heart on a cold December day.
