Quote:Those teams are not very good, their conference is horrible and they’re beating awful teams. Sam Houston State, 0-7 and transitioning from FCS, is pathetic and should’ve beaten Liberty at Liberty, same with 2-6 MTSU; and Jax State had to go to OT to beat Sam Houston St.
My counter to that:
Liberty: They beat BGSU, granted doing so via 5 turnovers given to them / taken by them. They absolutely destroyed Buffalo. It's true they had a close game against no-win Sam Houston St. But @BYU only beat Sam Houston St by 14, and Air Force only beat them by 10. And Jax-St didn't beat them by much either. They can be competitive.
Jax-St: They whipped EMU 21-0. And they just beat a still-winning-team, W Kentucky.
So the MAC is 0-3 against them, while definitely not giving them our 3 worst teams. However, that said -- yes, the teams' schedules in said conference are very weak. And it's not like they played our 3 best for a great comparison. Hence, I give the edge to the MAC, overall.
Quote:Temple football program had some success in the MAC. They chased the money and the program has been mediocre at best in AAC.
They did. Not a ton of it, but yeah. It did help them improve and get on a better track. But really not that successful if/when you also include the years before officially joining but playing a good amt of MAC teams, and any MAC play after.
2004 (not in MAC yet): Got absolutely destroyed by @Toledo and BGSU.
2005 (not in MAC yet): Got absolutely destroyed again by Toledo and @BGSU. They did have a close loss to a 7-4 WMU team, though.
2006 (not in MAC yet): Played 6 MAC teams. Went 1-5, beating a 4W BGSU team.
2007: Went 4-4 in the MAC.
2008: Went 4-4 in the MAC.
2009: Went 7-1 in the MAC. Their stellar year.
2010: Went 5-3 in the MAC.
2011: Went 5-3 in the MAC (and beat Wyoming in bowl).
2015: Got whipped by Toledo in a bowl.
2018: Lost to Buffalo at home by a TD.
2019: Lost to @Buffalo by 16
2021: Whipped @Akron
2023: Beat Akron in a barn-burner
