Every Saturday during college football season, I highlight a game from UTA's past on The Maverick Rambler blog. I thought ACU fans may like this week's entry as UTA and ACC met on this day in 1967.

Very cool. Brings back fond memories of days past.

ACU came out with purpose and played decent defense, even though it was still too soft on pass coverage for me. We still struggled with the run as usual. But, you can't complain too much when you only give up 7 points. Offense seemed anemic as always, but seemed to find a way when it was important. We end up winning 24-7. Tarleton will be a bigger struggle.

Guess Tarleton sure was intimidated by the mighty Lumberjacks. What a pathetic program that has turned out to be.

Really surprised Carthel and the LumberJacks laid an egg last night. From his days at TAMUCommerce his teams were always solid. Last night looked like his team gave up once they fell behind.

He has had a tough time hanging on to talent. Both players and Assistant coaches. Nevertheless SFA got embarrassed last night.

Surprised Whitten didn’t call off the dogs earlier. He doesn’t run up the score and it has cost him some games. Last night was a shellacking.

I saw where someone on the SFA Sawmill posted HC Whitten had been at TSU for 14 years.

While correct NOT CONCURRENT. This is his third stint.

Apparently Tarleton is the only place he finds success. I don’t see him going anywhere if it’s up to him. His age and past history elsewhere strong factors staying put.

Winning seasons also help you keep your job in college football even though some seem confused about this stat.

We played our 2nd & 3rd stringers most of the 2nd half. QB2 played the entire 4th quarter and we didn't attempt a single pass, just ran the ball. Find/develop a dependable QB and our roster is good and deep enough to win a Natty. Still young, too.

Where the heck has this team been all year? I know SFA is not as good this year, but DANG! That was a whoop'n! Loved it! Though I was disappointed at the turnout. ACU and SFA should be sell outs in the Ville!!!
