MyBB AAC vs OOC
I haven’t kept this data for a while, and honestly not sure if I’ll have the time/patience to update it consistently. But for now, I’m going to attempt to list all of the men’s basketball scores against non-conference opponents for the full season. Please don’t hesitate to provide any scores that I have left out — I promise it’s due to forgetfulness or lack of awareness and nothing intentional. Here goes!

RE: AAC vs OOC
SAGU is NAIA from Waxahachie, TX just South of DFW. They have a mature team - many from the DFW area, and won 21 games last year. They were quick and feisty, so a decent test, with little downside. SMU still won by 19. We tried out several combinations of players, nobody got injured, and hopefully built some chemistry.

The schedule gets progressively more difficult. Hopefully these first 3 games will prepare us for A&M and the Fort Myers Tournament.

Wed Nov 8 - Western Illinois
Thu Nov 9 - Lamar
Tue Nov 14 - Texas A&M #15
Mon Nov 20 - West Virginia - Tournament
Wed Nov 22 - Virginia or Wisconsin - Tournament

The game sounds perfect for an exhibition. Why did SMU make it a regular season game?

For the curious--- last season Ferrum finish near the bottom of The Old Dominion Athletic Conference just beating out conference mate Eastern Mennonite.

Is the pay-out the same for a regular season game vs. an exhibition game?

The game sounds perfect for an exhibition. Why did SMU make it a regular season game?

I am not a spokesperson, but these are my assumptions/possibilities:
- Helps SAGU playing in front of player parents, exposure in Dallas for recruiting, some $$$, maybe coaching relationship?
- NAIA games do not count in NET or factor in tournament selection - Correct me if I am wrong.
- A "shake down" game that is "real" not exhibition or secret scrimmage, with no downside
- A first game for fans that SHOULD be a win, and a chance to build excitement for the next 3 games leading to A&M
- We had at least one scrimmage with Kansas State, maybe there was another and so by rule this was a game? Unless the rule has changed again it was 2 scrimmages or exhibitions were allowed.
- They played 3 games in Spain - not sure if that would limit their scrimmage/exhibition games allowed.
- I am rambling and cannot find an official response. So maybe someone closer to the program might know the answer.

I just looked and they finished above 4 teams. Really weird to lie about where a D3 team finished in the basketball standings.

Not as weird as pretending that a well-documented SOS ranking doesn't measure SOS.

For the curious--- last season Ferrum finish near the bottom of The Old Dominion Athletic Conference just beating out conference mate Eastern Mennonite.

They also finished above the 2023 Division 3 CWS Champions University of Lynchburg among others.

Are you really propping up a D-III school that a conference member should have never scheduled during the regular season? Now that's hilarious.

I just looked and they finished above 4 teams. Really weird to lie about where a D3 team finished in the basketball standings.

Not as weird as pretending that a well-documented SOS ranking doesn't measure SOS.

It’s not SOS it’s a metric of how many really good teams you play. If you don’t understand the difference that’s on you and you don’t need to follow me around talking about it.

No, just discussing the ODAC. You’ll find I said last night that there are D3 teams that would beat Ferrum by 50.
