##23-24 AAC wbb: Tulsa wins wbit 2nd round as utsa, rice fall##
Tulsa scored the first bucket in their 3rd round WBIT matchup with Illinois, but immediately gave up a 10-0 run.

The Illini cruised to a 69-61 win, but led by double digits most of the way.

That wraps it up for (current) AAC teams in the postseason.

I don’t understand this wbit.

But I do see LSU and UConn are through to the Elite Eight

All four NCAA Elite Eight games match 1 vs 3 seeds.

We already knew LSU was underseeded as a 3. What happened to the other 2’s?

UCLA Notre Dame Stanford Ohio State were all “upset”.

NC State and South Carolina will comprise one half of the final four.

Do our Carolina AAC friends have a preference between those two fine neighbors?

I was pleased to see NCst knock off Texas.

clt says Charlotte and NC State get along pretty well, we both hate UNC CHeat

fun fact, Carolina is closer to Charlotte than UNC CHeat

Poindexter of Tulsa in the portal. Big blow as she was the conference player of the year.

I’m impressed you get 260K from Marquette and a home and home series with them as part of the contract. That’s smart business. We need to incorporate that type of language into the contract of our head coach.

Lawrence in the portal now for Charlotte. I believe the only first teamer all-AAC player coming back not in the portal is the post player from UNT?

At this point, the three Texas schools seem to be returning the most players and might have to be ranked 1-2-3 in the preseason. But it’s still early.

ECU only losing Danae McNeal. Karina Gordon entered the portal but was only a freshman depth piece that can be replaced. Return Amiya Joyner, Tatyana Wyche and will add Synia Johnson who was starting SG on AAC Championship team but injured 9 games into the season. Starting Point Guard on said team Micah Dennis is applying for a medical redshirt after becoming injured 11 games into the season. Former 4-star freshman Khia Miller came into her own at the end of the season scoring double digit figures in many games. Added a transfer from LSU. Need one or two more and will be set to compete for a championship again.

McNeal did average 20.7 points a game though. Gettin Dennis back will help but that’s not a given. NCAA is back to 30 percent ratio of games played to automatically get a redshirt. Dennis could get a sixth year but it’s not a given.

I still don’t know how you could put ECU (or USF) ahead of the Texas three schools as of today. A few more transfers of note and then sure.

I would have put Tulsa as the preseason favorite if Poindexter has stayed but she’s headed to Kansas State. Huge loss there. She was absolutely the best player in the conference last year.

Pretty sure her departure (she's a legacy) was the final nail in our AD retiring, whether by his choice or the schools. Our NIL has been non-existant and hasn't really been addressed . Either way I am hoping our newish president will make a good hire. We did extend the coach so we should have a good chance at continuing our momentum.

I said if ECU gets one or two pieces they can compete for a championship I didn’t rank anyone anywhere

Rice's Lindsay Edmonds signed a new 5 year contract. That's big as she was being targeted by several programs last month.

Jackson State head coach. Nice hire. They were undefeated in SWAC and had some good NC wins as well.

New coach Tomekia Reed has six years of experience as a HC at Jackson State where she went 125-54 (.698) and 95-10 (.905) in the SWAC. She won the SWAC three times, went to the NCAAs three times, and the NIT once. She was a four-time SWAC Coach of the Year and three-time HBCU National Coach of the Year. Two of her players are in the WNBA.

If she can translate this success to Charlotte we are going to be looking for trophies.

Well done. Rice as well. Hopefully we can get two or three in the dance next year.
