Decent showing (for the men), had honestly expected considerably worse. Too bad we couldn't bag that Kent State one too.

I think it was a nice collaboration to get this done. They thought it out enough to lock in the initial game and then wait to see how the season unfolds to get good matchups again. Interesting to see if any will be rematches. Also, what’s up with Marshall opting out?

My guess is because there are 14 SBC teams and only 12 MAC teams. Two SBC teams had to be left out, and since Marshall is already scheduled to play Miami, Ohio, and Toledo, they probably seemed like a good choice to be left out. Maybe they will play in the second round.

Marshall basketball got kicked around enough in the MAC to last them awhile.

Note that 5 of the top 6 MAC mens teams won and the top 3 MAC women's teams also won. Sun Belt looks better at the bottom MAC better at the top.

That's a good question ... does using the NET in Feb. change the 12 from the SBC? Both for MBB and WBB? I imagine it might.

Just a reminder, Marshall went 4-0 against the MAC last season with an average margin of victory of about 20.

It will be the same 12 SBC teams. Marshall and Coastal did not leave an OOC spot available for the challenge.

Marshall had 3 MAC schools already on the schedule this year and may likely play Akron in a multi-team event this weekend, so we asked out of the challenge since we already regularly play MAC schools OOC in both men's and women's basketball.

Naturally, the Sun Belt fans say they lost because of the referees.

LOL... They are the worst.

MAC lost 5 of 12 at home to the Sun Belt. That is not good. MAC is 1-6 on road this year. That tells how bad the MAC is at home. SUN Belt will have a real good net ranking at expense of the MAC. MAC poor home record will put them in 20's in conference rank.
