Princeton
NU continues its road trip visiting Princeton on Saturday afternoon. The game is on ESPN+ at 2 pm... its also the Tigers home opener.
Princeton has been very impressive on the road hammering ODU, and wins at Rutgers, Hofstra and Duquesne.
This will be a tough one. They don't have a lot of size, which helps NU, but they don't commit turnovers and shoot the ball very well from deep.
There's a part of me that thinks we'll play them very well. We played a tight game with them last year in the London Classic championship. We had a few chances to win that game.
I still think we'll come up short...

I took a look at the box score for last year's game. Princeton didn't shoot the ball well at 33%. That is probably not going to happen tomorrow. We were about seven percentage points better. Doherty didn't play and the freshmen (this year's sophs) spent little time on the court and contributed only three field goals. Doherty will play tomorrow and we'll get more out of our sophs but to give us a chance I think we'd need shooting percentages like the ones against Georgia Southern.

RE: Princeton
Well, it seems like the youngsters did their job today. The sophs scored well over half of our points. They could've used more help from the upperclassmen, though. Still, as a team our FG percentage was fifty percent. We didn't not show up. Looking at the stats they were just a little better than us in most other categories and their PG killed us. We had no answer for him. The twelve to two run by Princeton in the last three minutes made the final score look more onesided than it actually was.

RE: Princeton
I was at the game.
Aside from the fact that we had no answer for Lee, Princeton also seemed to get every loose ball and rebound that led to second and third chance points. That more than anything else was a killer.
Like I thought, we had a chance to win this game despite their hot start to the season. It just irked me that Troutman, Woods and King couldn’t contain Lee. A few times he got Troutman twisted around like a pretzel.
It’s also no coincidence that Sakota’s worst games of the season have come against Harvard and Princeton…
Other than Turner we REALLY need another consistent outside shooter. Another difference in this game.

RE: Princeton
I agree about the 50-5o balls. Princeton is the quicker team.
They, like Harvard, are also smart. Their coach can tell their players, "Sakota isn't a threat to drive to the hoop. Just don't give him any open three looks." and they will do it. So, against the two Ivies he shoots sixteen percent from three while shooting in the low forties against everyone else.
