Guess he's staying
Looks like we've got another year of crap! Game attendance should be through the roof.

At any respectable school Hall would be gone and McClain with him.

As much as I agree I don’t have the buy out laying around. If you do go ahead and pony it up.

This isn’t about the money. This is about Hall being a personable guy with deep Mississippi roots who talks about family and Jesus, and everybody who matters being hooked on the hopium that he can figure it out and remain the face of the program for the next 15 years.

Bingo

Y’all just watch. He’ll win 5 games next year, lean into his drawl, drop Bower’s name a few more times, and be back for ‘25.

I think anything short of a winning season before Bowling is grounds for dismissal. So in my mind 6-6 ain't gonna cut it.

In a lot of people’s minds, going 3-9 in his 3rd year wasn’t going to cut it, and we see how that’s going.

A lot of folks want very badly for him to be the guy. His leash is made out of bubble gum.

Whatever the reason maybe, hopefully it'll get righted next season, even if we're 7-6 I'll be happy, I just don't want to be out of it the 5th game of the season, and in his last year we don't extend unless we're in the CCG and in the running for a NY6, but if that happens we won't have to extend and he'll be courted away to a P5..

If that happens he should be shown the door and we go looking to Okie State's OC.

We can settle for whoever is the Ok St O-C when Hall eventually leaves an 3-4 years. We'll win again, reign as SBC champ for a few years, make a NY6 bowl, and finished ranked in the top 10.... Better than nothing. I guess......

BUT, I still say we need to think outside the box.

Convince a Nick Saban, Kirby Smart, or Dabo type coach that anyone can be successful at big money schools, but if they want a REAL challenge they need to attempt a Natty run at a piss poor, broke, G5 school like Southern Miss. Kind of like Rocky Balboa in Rocky 4 story. Think of Southern Miss like the frozen tundra of Russia. Go back to his coaching roots, with a make-shift, rag tag team of Bad News Bears type coaching staff and a shoe string budget. Then, AND ONLY THEN, will USM return to the meaningful discussion of relevant FBS football programs. Think of every underdog sports movie cliche' you can muster, Waterboy, Rocky 4, the Replacements, Necessary Roughness, Blades of Glory, Little Giants, Revenge of the Nerds, even the House Bunny, roll it all together and "PLOWY!!" SOUTHERN MISS : Notional Champions 2028, BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We just need to get Nick a nice place in Oak Grove....
But seriously, if we shoot for Perfection and miss, we will still probably hit Excellence. Seems like we keep shooting for "Good Enough" and missing, why not take a chance?

I see 6-6 as a stretch goal lol and 4-8 a REAL probability, unless something really changes. Not trying to be negative, but reality hit me hard mid season.

What I saw was an OL that didn't block, maybe once a series.

I saw receivers dropping passes that hit their hands.

I saw holes in the defense that allowed big explosive plays.

I saw out of conditioned players come the 4th quarter.

I saw injuries that decimated our DBs.

We need an OC (supposedly being hired).
We need an OL coach (With Gregg having to step back down to just that, he may quit if he's taking a reduction in pay, I don't think that's the worst thing)
We need a DC/DB coach (Looking for those)
We need a new S&C coach.

RE: Guess he's staying
Just read an article about Petrino and his season at TAMU...

Jimbo wanted BP to run his (meaning Jimbo's offense) and not BP's.. Basically it seemed like BP had to learn Jimbo's system and the terminology, install it with the offense, and Jimbo would call plays... BP would go on to say he had to install the offense 3x before the season started cause Jimbo kept changing it.

This scares me... Hall wants to hire a true OC.. Does that mean USM will run that OC's offense and call the plays or will they keep Hall's system and this poor b@stard have to learn Hall's system?
