Losing Gabbert and being this good is a reflection of Martin's program. Martin has done a terrific job with limited resources and always playing a tough P5 schedule every year.

I can't imagine either of these coaches not getting much interest from some P5's after this game... I think it may be a foregone conclusion that Candle is likely headed elsewhere.

It's funny, up until a few seasons ago Martin was a favorite punching bag-target of criticism for posters on this board.

Candle I could see, although I thought Indiana might’ve been his best target.

Not sure on Martin. Hard to believe but this is only his 2nd winning regular season in his 10 years there, not counting the 2-1 Covid year. Although as 2013 said, they tend to play rough OOC schedules.

Edit: Never mind. Toledo TDs keep getting negated by penalties.

Toledo has the shotgun firmly pointed at their foot. Good lord.

Because they hated a certain poster who thought that he’d be a good hire.

I’d say Martin’s 10-year tenure at Miami has been OK, nothing spectacular. Won MAC East 3 times during this span. A pretty good 41-33 MAC record (helps being in the weaker division).

For as long as I can remember, the MAC East rep over-performs in the MACC and often pulls the upset, no matter the strengths of divisions. And this is with the West typically having “home field advantage” at FF. Almost bit us if not for Spillane’s interception.

I only watched parts of the game. But what I saw was Toledo’s O-Line getting bossed around by MU and Finn constantly pressured. Impressive.

Chuck Martin won the MAC with a backup QB. Miami gets rewarded and credit for sticking with him.
