I guess at this point it's safe to say all of the staff firing is done. Gotta say I'm a little disappointed that the TE coach was the only one on offense to be let go.... I'm sure we could all think of a few more that needed it.

I heard somewhere the other day about two names thrown out for OC and DC, but can't remember who they were, I was possibly in a fog with my cold I had as well. I thought I heard on Monday by EOW we should know who the new coordinators were though or who was being targeted. So either nothing is panning out, he's being shot down by the people or admin, or we're being tight lipped about it.

I was told that a new OC and DC would be announced this week. I am a bit concerned that there is no word yet.

Is he worse than Will Hall? Ill go with "no"

Given the diminished stature of the Southern Miss football program, I think it's as close to a great hire as we could hope for. Time will tell. No doubt he had an outstanding run in his 3 years at Notre Dame.

From what I read it's hard to tell why he was let go. The most I could make out from the vague references is that he was a demanding coach, and some of the players felt stressed. Whatever the case, it doesn't sound like it was anything that would make his hire a questionable move. His last OC job for 1 year was at Georgia Tech where they went 5-7, but the year before they were 3-9 (sound familiar?). I can't help thinking the talent we had this past season was mismanaged on both sides of the ball. At the Sun Belt level, maybe Chip Long can really turn the offense around. Let's hope so!

I'd like to think Zach Arnett is in the mix, but I doubt it.

I said I hoped Hall wouldn't hire anymore buddies. More I dig on Long the more I'm worried now..

Hall and Long were teammates at UNA and overlapped at Tulane in coaching...
