Collectives
So is it correct that we have $2M in ours? I guess that’s for football.

How much for Basketball?

Interesting I heard on National radio last night that Dion’s son got $6.2M last year? That can’t be right. Arch Manning $2.9M. Marvin Harrison Jr was also a big number.

Originally it was said NIL would not affect the team because quarterbacks and other stud players already were privileged. But talk about the have and have nots. I want the players paid but I wonder how it affects the team. I also want people who love our University, but I guess things are changing.

RE: Collectives
Collectives are not the only means with which people are paid through NIL.

RE: Collectives
Collectives are thankfully going away. They were the law of unintended consequences for those who didn't see what the NIL ruling allowed to the creative and sleazy - it was too easy to see and exploit the myriad loopholes of starting fake corporate entities, enticement, etc. In a year or two it will be unionized collective bargaining with straight disbursements from the school to the players. Perhaps a salary cap with minimums.

The pending billion $$ class action for NIL payments to past players is the really fun stuff. Rumors of settlement requiring every school to cut a check of upwards of 8 figures. Good times.

I’ll put this here about NIL’s.

Per Dan Hoard last nt: it was reported that Ok St BB coach said his team Was barely scratching $500k, when 6 Big XII teams paying $2M.

A friend of mine is related to a rotational football player at Ohio State. The player is getting $500K. Imagine what the good players are getting. Legality the bag man so he has no risk/downsize was a stupid decision.

Interesting

If Wes wants to keep his job needs to put a million of his salary towards this and go buy himself an alpha player for next year.

I think you really have to want to believe these sorts of numbers, but in any case, OSU has several assistant coaches making more than a million dollars a year, so it doesn't seem outrageous for players to make half that?

Can you say- is this a skill player on O or a DB? I am guessing not a lineman despite their importance.
