Toledo missed not having Finn in at QB. The transfer portal strikes again.....

It really has watered down my interest for bowl season, even for the MAC ones. Just mainly the JV squads now.

Agree, some of the bowl games this year were brutally bad.

I hope the MAC comes down hard. What an embarrassment for the team, the University, and the conference.

NIL has given college football players a paycheck while combining with the Transfer Portal has totally ruined Bowl games.

Georgia Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart lamented the Florida State opt outs after the team's 63-3 victory on Saturday. He said it's a problem that needs fixing.

I've never heard anyhing like it.

Agree. Sign of the times. The more rude and obnoxious you are, the better. Appeals to a certain crowd I guess.

On another note, the Orange Bowl Georgia-Florida State game (42-3 Georgia at the half) is an embarrassment to the sport of college football and a testament to the current state of the game. FSU has so many missing guys due to injuries, the portal and bowl game opt outs (including Fiske), the game isn’t even competitive. I’m old enough to remember when games like the Orange Bowl were a big deal. Nowadays, it’s basically a notch above a Spring Game. Unfortunately, if you ain’t playing in the CFB playoffs, your team/bowl game is pretty much irrelevant. Sad state of affairs!

It is a joke but the 12 team format will fix the biggest issue with it. I get it's tradition but the bowl system was a relic and a terrible format for the modern era. With 12 teams in the biggest contenders will keep their top players, there won't be undefeated teams missing their shot at a title and the rest of the bowls can be what they were always meant to be, exhibitions as a reward and a sendoff into the next season.

Yeah, I'm waiting to see what next year brings. Things in the college football universe are changing rapidly and not necessarily for the better. Once the 12 team playoffs start we'll have to see if and how that changes things.

Oh, and the announcers at the Barstool Sports Bowl? Was the biggest clownshow I've ever watched/listened to. But that is what happens when one rich guy controls the bowl and its broadcast because he sponsored it. He had his Barstool cronies as the other announcers. Was almost impossible to listen to, unless you like that kind of thing. Maybe, it's generational but when I tune in to watch a game, I prefer at least semi-professional descriptions of what is happening in the game, not a clownshow of amateurs making stupid comments.

RE: MAC Bowl Games Today
The quickest fix would be to move the transfer portal to something like mid-January. Of course then you have people switching schools a few weeks into the semester which is another kettel of fish.

Or just cap the portal at one time and a second time requires sitting out a year. The portaling would be less and some would wait a year or two.

NCAA taking over paying the players would help a lot, but that’s a longer play

Gleason's QBR for the Bowl game was slightly higher than Finn's for the MACC. His rushing numbers were also better.
