If they started to charge for parking at the garages closer in people would have less incentive to ride off someone else's donation. For now it is free at Grace St which is closer than some donor lots. Free lots should be a long walk/shuttle bus to the stadium, not a 7-10 min walk. JMU is missing out on a lot of potential donations because there isn't the incentive to do it for a lot of fans.

Probably more lots should have assigned spaces now, and more free lots converted to paid. Part of the growth process, it wasn't as important in FCS. What you see at TCU and elsewhere are some lots are donor only, and some are "cash" lots, where cash normally means use a card swipe due to issues with grift, etc.

You can buy a single season ticket in the nosebleeds at the minimum donation with a convo pass for pretty darn cheap. That's what we do for our group so the rest of them can park and walk over. I usually then donate the extra tickets or sometimes I hold onto it in case we need an emergency ticket or two.

Yeah, I’m not giving up a parking ticket. None of my friends would be into that either.

IIRC Convo filled up last year, I’m not sure buying a one-off nosebleed for a Convo pass would work anymore.

Worked for us for quite a number of years including every week we needed it last year. Ends up being about the same price per game as ubering back and forth from a hotel at the end of the day, but for folks just making a day trip, makes it a lot easier for them to park and meet us at our main spot.

I had spillovers park in the parking deck and walk over, can't beat it for free; I think this is another lost chance to earn some money and I wouldn't mind paying to park there on gameday (if needed).

RE: 2024 Football Tickets
Buried in Shane’s article today about the new athletic leadership but football season ticket waitlist is currently around 1,000.

RE: 2024 Football Tickets
Interesting, so with 1000 people on the waitlist that’s probably 2000-3500 tickets they’re not selling every game until the expansion is done.

If that grows a bit more in the next year or two, the case for expansion could be pretty compelling. Can put together revenue projections based on wait list, growth rate, etc.

I’m not convinced they pull the trigger on expansion this year, but it feels inevitable within a few years. They’ve got to figure out the financing pieces while keeping under the cox limits, etc but I think it’s doable.

I think at least 500 of those will come off the waitlist once the priority deadline is passed. Parents who won’t renew since their kid graduated, etc..

But overall this a very good sign for expansion

500 may come off, but another 1000 or 2000 could join. For every student graduating, another will begin attending. Some of those who graduated may wish to attend with their friends.

With the recent success, the conditions are ripe for demand to grow even more overall. And if we manage to win the SBC title and/or get a CFP slot, look for it to go bananas.

One “decent” season and that waitlist goes kaboom. Feel like people want to move way too fast on expansion IMO. Still can’t barely fill the upper deck most games. There’s enough room people. When the stadium looks like the App St game constantly, you might have a case.

Just finish the bottom bowl. That’s all I want for now.

Almost impossible for that to happen without building out the whole side.

The economics just won't work, you would get a large portion of the expense, and not enough added revenue. The godwin side is primarily student seating at current capacity, and it would need to be larger with premium seating to add significant revenue.

finishing the bottom bowl doesn't add any capacity. There is math on this somewhere in other threads. You might get 1000 in the corner where no seats exist now but replacing the concrete stands with the mirror image of the 100/200 level we have now doesn't increase seats.

Correct, minimal increase at best.

RE: 2024 Football Tickets
You could always rebuild it and even though you're only able to add so many seats without adding a 2nd deck, you could build premium boxes at the top that could bring in $$$.
