Only listing the teams relevant to Memphis in the final standings

USING THE TORVIK PREDICTOR for all remaining AAC games, we end up tied for 5th. I think the tiebreakers would put us in the 7 seed.

However, if we beat FAU and all other games go as Torvik predicts, then we end up tied for 3rd place with FAU and SMU. The tiebreakers work in our favor and we end up the 3 seed. That includes a Torvik predicted loss by FAU @UNT this week.

If FAU wins at UNT this week and we beat them, then we end up tied for 4th with SMU. We would have the tiebreaker and get the 4th seed.

I think there's even a scenario where we get the #2 seed. But that would involve Charlotte losing to Rice and/or ECU this week. Unlikely.

Bottom line, if we beat FAU we get a top 4 seed.

Thanks for the Torvik breakdown. Exciting stuff! I can't stop looking at the what-ifs!

Memphis gets different treatment than any P5 team. We lost 4 straight and suddenly went from #10 to "can't get an At Large bid." WTF?! We lost to USF which felt like a bad loss. Looking back, not so much. Lost at Tulane by 2. Lost at UAB. Lost at home vs Rice by 3. No losses by large margin. All formidable teams except Rice.

Being in AAC, we have the possibility of losing to a metric-killing team. Those don't exist in P5, even though there are teams equally as terrible.

I agree mostly but that Rice loss is the albatross around our neck. Might be one of the most baffling losses in Tiger history. Should've beat USF with a 20 point lead but like you said, they are decent if nothing else. Other game at Tulane where they played insane and then of course they went straight down the $hitter. That Rice loss was/is a nut kick.

Had we just beaten Rice and not pissed away a 20 point lead vs USF, both in our home floor……..

24-6 (13-4), ranked in top 25 and about a 5/6 seed. 4 total points may be the difference in going to the NCAA and not

As for the talent - who assembled that talent? It wasn't Tubby and it wasn't Josh (post Cal hangover). Gotta give credit to the coach for recruiting if you're going to say we've been loaded with talent.

The conference is not as bad as the metrics say. They gotta redo these metrics. Its stupid

We should’ve been at worst 2nd in the AAC the last few years and dominating it this year.

A lot of the talent this year was overrated. Look at Brown? I’ve tried to give him the benefit of the doubt but you can’t play him 5 minutes. And the young talent never gets to play. Execept for Ashton

If UAB were to win out they have the tie breaker.

1-1 head to head, but they beat USF and we lost to USF.

Because their top teams win big non conf games against good p6 teams and sometimes win by a lot.

I think Penny's defense is too complex to learn in one year. He needs to have multi-year players to play this defense. Our defense was terrible through that rough portion of the season.
