MyBB Memphis Basketball back on the bubble
Jay Bilas said in a short video on ESPN last night that with our win vs UAB he has us back in the bubble in the last four out. So expect to see us there when his bracketology is updated.

I'm reluctant to do so, but I may have to drag out the bubble watch thread again...

RE: Memphis Basketball back on the bubble
Based on our resume, we should get in if we win out and get to the AAC championship, even if we lose in the title game. We should be rewarded for the challenging non-conference schedule, even if Arkansas, Missouri, aTm and Virginia are not as good as expected. However, I am not confident the committee will see it that way. IMO we need to win the conference tourney which will remove all doubt.

The losses to North Texas and Rice would be nice to have back. The horrible loss to SMU is also a weight dragging us down.

I read an article this morning at ESPN talking about the "if our team wins out and loses the conference championship game" issue. Of 36 teams in the past 3 years that were off the bubble, went on long winning streaks, then lost the championship game, only 2 of them made the tourney as an at-large (and both were Utah State).

We really need to win the conference tournament, or hope we're the 3rd team to do it.

ESPN's Lunardi has Memphis "next four out."

I made the mistake of looking at the NET rankings earlier this morning. Don't do it. Seeing some of the teams ranked above us is more confusing and frustrating than looking at the RPI a few years ago.

I know there's more to it than quad wins, but which team should be ranked higher based on wins?

Blind resume test:

Team A: Q1 3-2; Q2 3-3; Q3 11-2; Q4 5-1

Team B: 0-6; 1-3; 5-0 ; 15-0

Team C: 5-6; 4-3; 2-4; 5-0

Team D: 0-3 ; 3-4; 12-2; 5-1

Also back on the Bracket Matrix listing. One service has us in - which puts us back on that site's bubble.

If we win out to the title game, that will include 2 additional Quad 1 wins (at FAU and SMU quarterfinals).. and a Quad 2 against a nationally ranked USF team in the semis. That should get us in.

Disagree. A HUGE factor is the championship game is on Sunday and ends right before selection show. If the semifinal is us vs south Florida, I believe winner of that game will make the tournament as the committee won’t have time to change the pairings around that late and they will make sure one of those is in in case they win the auto berth.

Of course this also assumes FAU makes the tournament final which would solidify their bid as well.
