Can Jaykwon Walton be our Dennis Rodman?
Jaykwon had 13 rebounds in the UAB game. Dennis Rodman was a standout rebounder for the CHICAGO BULLS and was a key element of that great team. Dennis Rodman averaged 15.3 rebounds, 5.2 points and 2.8 assists in 199 games for the Bulls in his career. Of course, Walton is also capable of scoring but has been inconsistent. But, if he gets hot scoring....that is a real plus.

I think what we learned is that similar to his scoring, hes a capable rebounder but inconsistent.

Walton is like most players. He lets his scoring dictate his effort most nights. If he scores then that bleeds over to other facets of the game. If is not scoring then that tends to have a negative impact on the rest of his game. We need his effort on defense and rebounding every game but do not need his scoring on a nightly basis.

To his credit, he did not let that happen Sunday and that is exactly what we need from him for the rest of the season. Defense, rebounding and effort regardless of whether his shots are falling or not.

He was a beast on the boards Sunday. He attacked every rebound that was even near him, no matter who was fighting for the ball, team mate or foe.

I hope he does it again Saturday vs FAU.

He needs to stop jacking up so many 3's even when wide open. There's a reason other teams are leaving him open.

No college player wants to be a Dennis Rodman-type player. They all want to score...nobody wants to be known as a rebounder/defender/rim protector first.

There's money in it. Walton could make a great living if he could be that guy!

Rodman? Nah he doesn't have that kind of instinct. We need what SeñorTiger said.

It worked for the BULLS and it appeared to work against UAB. Sounds like a plan to me.

That's putting an unfair expectation on Walton. Rodman is likely the most naturally gifted rebounder of all time. Walton could definitely do more on the boards, but wanting that from him every game is asking too much.

The 2 threes he took against UAB were very good shots. In rhythm, wide open, in flow of offense. I was very OK with both shots.

So many people have been down on him all season and I've seen nothing but hustle from him. Even when he isn't performing well his effort is there. And when he performs well, so much the better.

This has been a weird season with drama from so many of the personalities involved. It looks like that's pretty much behind them now. Something changed...

Rebound and the shots will fall
