Cougar opponents in the post season
Northwestern is pretty much a lock. Stetson is now the favorite in the Asun after another CSU opponent, EKU, lost in the first round.

If Stetson were to win the ASun, that would be 3 wins versus NCAA tournament teams this season.

Other opponents who have a shot- (some W’s, some L’s)

Loyola is still in realistic contention in the A10 and is 2nd in the standings, but probably not a strong at large contender.

Northern Colorado is currently 2nd in the Big Sky.

The MEAC is a jumble, and while Norfolk State (not a CSU opponent) looks to be the best team, SC State is currently in second, and the Cougars also played 2 other MEAC teams, Del State and Morgan. So there’s a chance there on several fronts.

Anyone “could” make it know, but teams like SIU, Bethune Cookman, and some others are down in the middle of the pack of their leagues so I didn’t list them as potentials.

And Stetson did it. Home and away losses to the Cougars, goes on to make the tourney.

With Northwestern a virtual lock, that puts 3 of Chicagos wins over tournament teams (and counting).

RE: Cougar opponents in the post season
I’m lumping this Cougar opponent topic in with the post season, though it’s slightly off topic.

This is Cougar opponents that reached 20 wins. The NET is useful in some ways, but teams that are capable of going out and winning a lot of their game says a lot about what type of team it is as well. The Cougars went 3-5 versus 20 win teams.

Bowling Green
Northwestern
Stetson
Loyola
Duquesne
St Thomas
Wisconsin

Northern Colorado got stuck at 19.
Same for Kansas State
Ditto for Northridge
Southern Illinois as well

RE: Cougar opponents in the post season
As of this writing, these opponents are still in their conference tournament race. Some of the teams CSU played that didn’t win 20 games are still showing their mettle in conference tournament play.

Duquesne -advanced to A10 Championship game
Wisconsin - advanced over Purdue to Big 10 Final
Bethune Cookman - lost in SWAC semis
UTEP- in CUSA final
Delaware State- lost in MEAC Championship

Looks like the Cougs went 3-2 versus teams that made the NCAA tournament.

There were a lot of teams that did not do that well.
