Personally, I think it is a good add for the schedule.

RE: JMU adds four more games with Liberty
Well, they’re four nearby games with strong local interest and virtually zero travel costs, against what should be a strong program. I get that.

I still have issues with it, like it’s beneath us, given their consistently poor institutional behavior.

Great add to the schedule. Should be great competition.

I like the Liberty series. That said, I still wonder why we continually start these series on the road. A lot of things can change over the years. Always better (if possible) to get your home game in 1st.

Surprised there’s no talk about this.

I mean, their reputation ain’t getting any better:

Liberty University has agreed to pay an unprecedented $14 million fine for the Christian school’s failure to disclose information about crimes on its campus and for its treatment of sexual assault survivors, the U.S. Department of Education announced Tuesday.

It’s been discussed in the Future FB Schedule thread for a couple of days.

My bad.

Personally, I don't want anything to do with that corrupt, immoral, disgusting diploma mill.

I would have preferred a series vs almost any other regional G5 (like a Charlotte, Navy, ECU, or MTSU)

Same here. Series with them is a no brainer..In state G5 under 100 miles. They were in a NY6 bowl game last season (granted it was a joke that they were in in it, they shouldn’t have been, and they got embarrassed). I think the 3 closest OOC G5:
-Liberty
-Navy (170ish miles)
-Delaware (225ish miles)

Have history with Liberty and even more so with UD. While can’’t play both Liberty and UD every season, I would like to see one or the other on there. And now 8 of 10 schedules 2025-2034 have either Liberty or UD scheduled. 2 seasons (2031 & 2032) have both. Both bus trip for the team, and day driving game for the bulk of the fan base. Now if can just get Navy on the schedule..

Wait a sec…JMU is now going to schedule UD and Liberty? How is this different than FCS FB?

Honestly, not a fan of playing either school.

Are former FCS, just liike all of the SBC East. Outside of P5s, the overwhelming majority of teams JMU plays every year will be former I-AA/FCS..

My bad.

No worries, I know 9 times out of 10 the conversation in that thread is more “why hasn’t Bourne scheduled Alabama, Clemson and Ohio State for home and homes.”

Home and home? Do you really think we deserve to have to play AT Alabama? We're better than that.

Kinda feel the same way, but my feelings have changed a little. At this point apparently they are best FBS we can get to Harrisonburg, and yes it does cut down on travel costs.

Liberty is a wise business decision. Most business decisions aren't based on emotion.

Most business decisions are based on money, as they should be. But Pepsi bought Pizza Hut, KFC, and Taco Bell just so they could force a bunch of restaurants to sell "is Pepsi ok?" soda. That wasn't based on emotion, but it was still a bad idea.

Having ethical concerns with the things that Liberty is on the record about isn't based on emotion, it's based on the (admittedly difficult to quantify) idea that associating with a school that has as many issues as Liberty does may, in the long run, cost JMU more than the bump in ticket sales would bring over other OOC game options.

Can't say I love this, but with their money and their conference, they may never lose another conference game again. This may be our only way to prove that an otherwise undefeated liberty should not get the post-season nod.
