It’s not his scoring but his total game that lead a team picked to finish 9th to first place at 16-2 and helped USF beat schools that were favored to beat them with their top players

First team, ok I get it. POY worthy? Nah.

i didnt want to say it earlier but to me he was always likely going to get POY ...

they were never going to give POY to a player on the 5th place team

it has never come from a player not on a top 3 team (or tied for top 3)... memphis fans are upset but jones was never really in it, looking at the last 9 years precedent

it was always going to be johnell davis or youngbloods award ..picking between them is where its tough..

if there is a comfortable number one team and they have a star player, it normally goes to him... if there isnt a major star player on the #1 team, it goes to the best player among the top 3/4 teams especially if they have crazy stats..

youngblood checks #1 but isnt that big of a star, and johnell has crazy stats ..the aac didnt feel like deciding and chose both

memphis fans can complain about it, but likely werent when precious won the award a few years ago, despite jayden gardner having historic level stats (but on a not good ecu)

Memphis was at least ok that year. Players on really bad teams never stand a chance.

I honestly thought Yaxel had a chance at POY. His conference play stats are crazy. I believe he was averaging something along the lines of 21ppg and 12-13is rebounds a game. Top 4 team I. The conference. Finished the season 1st in rebounds, blocks, double doubles. I know I’m biased but if someone told me there was going to be a Co- POY I would have though Yax would be on the mix.

The fact Jones was not a unanimous pick shows just how bogus this conference is.

I assume the league office will now move to Florida so they can dikride the Florida team.

One bid league.

They're talking about him being an all-american during our telecasts on a regular basis. He'll be a first round pick in the NBA. Just a joke. Nobody in the league can guard him one on one.

Love David but he will most likely never play more than a few games in the nba and definitely not be a first round pick. It is more likely he comes back to Memphis next season then he is even drafted at all.

Play by play guy a couple games ago said "ya know he could come back next year", and the color guy said, "yeah...uh huh".

Ain't no way he's coming back. He gone.

Little off on the points. Oof. I remember at one point a few weeks back we posted a graphic where he was averaging 21.5. Since then I think it’s been 15ish point games. That makes sense

He is giving all indications of returning but in the current environment who knows. He is a great freshman and one of the best scorers I’ve ever seen. He’s not ready for the pros though.

That was kinda my point. That’s how unlikely it is he will be drafted at all.

Just saying, things and situations change. Hope he stays.
