I’m going out in a limb here and saying the MAC winner will be team from Ohio.

To get us ready for the MAC tournament, I am reposting the winners list and the standings for the championship game that I posted after last year's tournament. I'll update at the conclusion of this year's tournament.

It is pretty surprising when you see the success both teams had in the 90s that the two teams have combined to win only one title so far in this century. No one would have thought that to be the case back then, I'm sure.

WMU's best NCAA tournament game was in a year where we didn't win the MAC tournament, go figure. (Win over 6-seed Clemson, 1998)

Wow ... did not realize Kent had been to so many MAC title games ... double every team in the MAC or more except Ball State and OU. And tied with Ball State and OU for most titles. Amazing. That would be a great bar bet.

Don't have a record book in front of me, but I don't believe Kent had an overall winning record in basketball until well into this century.

Just checked Wiki ... Kent joined the MAC in 1952, and only had 3 overall winning basketball seasons between 1952-1983 ... and never had a winning season in the MAC until 1989. And 1989 was also the first time Kent had a 20-win season.

They have been making up a lot of ground since then. Did not win first MAC Tournament until 1999.

You can win a lot of bar bets with those stats!

I have tried and tried to find ACCURATE all-time MAC tournament records by team, but I haven't found anything I can trust. I have found it on Wikipedia, but it's not updated. I found it on the MAC site, but that's not updated either. So, I just stuck with what I know for this post!
