Do we still need a separate forum for P5 discussion?
Since January 25th, there has only been one thread there that any of us have posted on, and that one had only 5 total posts, the last on February 20th. Do we really need it?

Does the P5 even exist after July 1, 2024?

The consensus seems to be there is now a P2, a M2, and still a G5.

I vote (Are we voting?) to pull the plug on the P5 forum on July 1, 2024.

M2 = not for long

I also forgot somewhere in between is the remaining Pac-2 members Wash St and Ore St, but in my mind they are already grouped with the MWC and the other G5.

Given the lack of apparent interest, and that we now have a P2/M2 structure, I say we do not.

RE: Do we still need a separate forum for P5 discussion?
If my recollections are correct, the P5 forum came about at a time where P5 movement was largely speculation while everything else was in flux. The main realignment forum was meant for the here and now. The P5 forum was also meant to be a P5 fans’ space where every thread didn’t get derailed by fans of small time programs complaining about how greedy the big dogs were.

Fast forward to the OUT announcement, and suddenly P5 realignment became a very real thing and worthy of the main page.

People aren't interested in a breakaway power league board???? Shocking.

But I'm sure any actual actual break away will be more successful.

I love the irony and self-unawareness of this post. I can't understate how many threads on this board regarding lower levels have been hijacked by someone whining "WHYYY are people even discussing this?" or making some vacuous, disparaging comment about a school that offers nothing to the discussion.

It tells you that there are a lot of people on this board that are not from the Big 10 and SEC conferences. This is what a lot of Youtubers are doing videos telling the P2 to stop destroying college sports, and leaving the rest of the schools behind? The ratings will go down.

Watch out posting on this -- the moderator(s) have or had a very thin skin on this topic. And previously gave warnings for just rational thoughts. :-{

As of now, it seems that the Big 12 including Kansas is now part of the G7. It is going backfire on the P2 where they see the mistake, and invite more schools and brands into the picture, create new sub conferences so that they reach all the media markets. Why would that state of Idaho or Eastern Washington, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Colorado, Arizona, Utah, Wyoming, New Mexico, western Texas, etc want to carry the Big 12 or SEC networks? If you want to get into all the markets to sell the Big 10 and SEC? You may need to include schools like Kansas etc to the P2.

At the very least, its gonna need a new name. The P5 is going away.

I've been reading this board since 2011 and can't recall ever having seen, until now, the P5 discussion forum.

RE: Do we still need a separate forum for P5 discussion?
Look folks, don’t kill the messenger. That was the reason at the time to spin off a subforum. Obviously things changed and more and more P5 specific threads started to or posted on the more heavily trafficked main forum.

The mods will discuss internally but reconfiguring things isn’t an easy process. Also, this isn’t a democracy, so if things stay exactly the way they are.
