I did not see this coming at the start of this week.

I didn't either. I predicted both of tonight's games wrong. Good thing I'm not a betting man.

I guess you have not been paying attention to this joke of a conference over the years then... 07-coffee3

Well, when I first started following MAC basketball your school had Nate Thurmond and Howard Komives on the same team, and beat the defending national champions Loyola (Chicago) at home. It was not a joke conference back then! 05-nono

Well, yeah, that was 1963! 03-lmfao

My dad was actually at that game. Spoke fondly about it, of course...

Did he think KENT trailed by one???
Maybe the refs too, they whistled it as if Kent was trailing and needed a quick stop, he barely grazed the finger tips of his offhand and it had no bearing on the play other than taking himself out of position leaving them on a 5-on-4.

A good draw for Akron (14) playing Creighton (3) in Pittsburgh (Midwest Region) with South Carolina and Oregon in the other bracket.

Wish I was in Pittsburgh Thursday to see a double header of Akron and my grad school alma mater (Oakland).

Yes, and two years later Ohio U. beat both Kentucky AND Louisville in NCAA tourney!

Yes, we were the first MAC school to go to the Elite Eight!

I'm not sure how good it is for Akron other than it being in Pittsburgh. I heard all over TV last night that Creighton is Final Four material.

Any 14 vs 3 seed is going to be tough. When people say good draw what they're meaning is this is probably the best Akron could have hoped for. I'd expect a pro Akron crowd given the fact the Pittsburgh natives would most likely be pulling for Akron. Add that onto the few thousand Akron fans plus Oregon/South Carolina fans also cheering for Akron.
