RE: Portal opens Monday
FWIW, here's info from the official WIU website about Dent:
2023-24: Dent (as a junior) played in all 33 games, registering seven starts. Dent was second on the team in scoring, averaging 10.7 points per game. His 354 total points were also second as were his 50 three-pointers. Dent was fifth on the team in rebounds per game (3.9), fourth in total assists (57) and third in steals (26). He scored a season-high 24 points vs. Southern U on Nov. 17 and had 20-point games at UTSA (11/6) and at Illinois (11/24) . Dent Jr. grabbed a season-high eight rebounds vs. Southern U and had season-high seven assists at Valpo. He also had a season-high four steals at Central Arkansas.
BEFORE WIU: Dent most recently played at John A. Logan College. Last year, Dent played in 34 games, averaging 11 points and 3.1 rebounds. Dent shot 46.4 percent from the floor and 41 percent on three-point shots. Dent was part of the National Championship team at John A. Logan last season.
Also, from Springfield, Il. Height 6-5 weight 160.
FYI: WIU finished 21-12/13-5 OVC/1-1 OVC tournament.

There's not much video of him at either WIU or JALCC but his stat line for both teams is interesting. He shot quite well from behind the arc at Logan but took a dip percentage-wise at WIU but still was 2nd on the team in 3s.
Which brings me to my main point, he was 2nd on the team in scoring, played in all 33 games, posted good numbers for the minutes he played but only started 7 games.
I have to look more into him to see if I can figure out what that is all about. Its possible he's just better and more comfortable coming in off the bench. Some guys are just that. And I really don't care who starts as it should be a rotation anyway and last year we were too reliant on starters due to a myriad of reasons. For example, Dent Jr averaged over 26 minutes a game so, who cares if he's on the floor to start a game if he doesn't care?
Its seeming like Burno will have more depth than last year, then again, a lot of his depth was constantly hurt (or something else like with Gebrewhit). Anyway, it seems as if Burno is collecting a lot of interchangeable guys with decent scoring attributes and decent size. Currently, our shortest player is 6'1", whereas last year we had two guys 6'0" or under. Granted, Coit put up points but we all know that's all he did. Either way, the have to replace a lot of points this year but that will come with minutes to guys.
So, looks like we still have 2 scholarships to fill. I'd like at least one powerforward/swing type that has some maturity on his body next please.

Terry was hurt. Not sure if the other played, but I think not. Their coaching was just awful too.

Point was he did not play during NIU game. I would take prior 4 * recruits that averaged 9 pts in Big East versus what NIU has signed.

Yeah, for once why can't we get a normal name, like Barney Lipschitz.
