Niko Medved is a good coach. I wonder if CSU will be able to keep him.

He definitely is. He broke down the pack line over the course of the game and UVa should have spent half time shooting jumpers and running some cuts.

Bennett will bounce back from this; the Hoos actually overachieved this year. But they were prone to being blown out when they had off nights of shooting and that’s exactly what happened. I admit I thought they’d be much much more competitive and I was blatantly wrong.

Now excuse me while I vomit for somewhat complementing them

As long as the Heels show up, the rest of the conference can lose first round for all I care! That’s how you’re supposed to treat your conference foes! Take note!!

I think the question about them and the transfer portal and NIL is pretty interesting. Sort of them and Villanova- who took guys 3-4 years and developed the hell out of them. Does that work going forward in this era of the transfer portal/immediate gratification? I dunno.

I think we'll see Bennett look at disciplined guys from the Ivy and other off the radar schools. Perhaps as grad transfers. I think he'll keep a development core, but he should branch out with veteran scorers like Carolina has done. Their defense was the only reason they won so many games this year.

Wisconsin by 24
Memphis by 23
ND by 21
State by 16
Wake by 19
VaTech by 34 (!)
Dook by 25

Carolina by 10 (this is one reason I thought they were better than they were)

In retrospect, they were too volatile. They lost to Wake twice and Pitt the only time they played them. Both of these teams would have been much stiffer competition IMO.

Very easy to do unless they're suing their conference.

Predictions:

UConn is going to win the natty.

McNeese is going to beat Gonzaga.

Tennessee is finally going to make the Final Four.

North Carolina and the entire ACC will crash out in embarrassing fashion. I hope my Spartans get the honor of beating them in their own backyard. But I'm also a realist. We have no inside play to speak of and I respect UNC's interior bigs.

Houston might make Duke literally pee themselves. That Dookie Center who faked being hurt by the crowd (Caitlyn Clark to a bigger shot from the crowd!!!!) and then tripped a Tar Heel player on a fast break is a punk. Houston is going to take all of that wuss kid's lunch money unless Wisconsin takes it first.

Indiana St put up 101 tonight after Virginia put up 42 (14 at halftime) last night.

The selection committee robbed college basketball fans of an entertaining game last night. Good thing we have 6 P6 ADs on it.

I thought SMU looked pretty good

Also, I hate the "play entertaining basketball argument". What a thing to select a team for

Says the guy who lectured all of us how “people here need to understand if you’re 4th in the ACC, you’re a tournament team” and trashed the MWC as the “Mountain Joke” for weeks on this board…only for the 3rd place ACC UVA to put up 14 at halftime and lose by 25 to the MWC’s #6 team.

It became such a meme, pages of this thread last night were filled with posters satirizing your arguments.

Weeks? lol no more like a day or so after the brackets were released. I said Pitt was a tournament team and I defended why I believe UVa was selected, but I did say Pitt was playing much better ball than Clemson lately and Clemson was somehow safely in yet they didn't earn a conference tourney bye like UVa and Pitt. My main argument was Pitt > Oklahoma and that the Big East got shafted by the MWC.

What has the Mountain West produced besides a San Diego State tournament run where they beat....Alabama? What data is there that the MWC has ever done anything else? C'mon now. It is not unreasonable to think the MWC STILL needs to prove something besides beating the team that apparently everyone except me and the committee believed deserved to be there. Say that out loud: the actual committee picked UVa. I went into this tournament believing the data out there that indicated the MWC usually bombs out of the tournament early. How is that wrong?

*No need to argue on the holidays. Although I am no fan of UVa, I think Bennett is a class act and he’s being unfairly piled on and people are calling for his job. His record there is insane and he won the natty five years ago.

Enjoy the games, compadre! 04-cheers

Colorado pulls it out as the Buffaloes beat the Boise State Broncos to advance to the Round of 64. Not taking anything away from Boise State. It was a hard fought game that literally could've gone either way until the final minute, when Colorado went up by two scores.

At some point, Boise's going to figure things out and win in the tournament. Until then, it wouldn't surprise me if they get no respect from the committee with respect to seeding. This being the third time since 2013 they got assigned to the play-in game. Even the year they won the AQ spot for the MWC, they got the 8-spot for it.

Meanwhile, Gonzaga has a ho-hum season and "luck" into a five-seed.

Ho-hum. Only 25-7 this year.

Yeah, ho-hum by their standards. It took beating Kentucky and winning out its last two regular season games for the conversations about their bid-worthiness to subside. To not even win the conference regular season title or the AQ and nab a 5? I know they scheduled tough OOC, but those good wins didn’t come until the Kentucky game (unless we’re calling the Yale win really good now). That’s a different level of respect from the committee that Boise has yet to earn.
