RE: NCAA tournament thread
Virginia is the first win this year in my strategy of fading teams in March that had great records in close games (and high kenpom luck factor). Those teams are likely to be overseeded because their resume is better than their actual quality.

Virginia had the best Stregth of Record (30th) of any bubble team by a wide margin and was 17-10 against the top 3 quads (most bubble teams are around .500 in these games) . But only because they were an absurdly lucky 11-1 in single digit games. They regularly got their ass kicked which is why they were near 70 kenpom.

The opposite is true too. Because remember. Records in close games are random as hell.

I wonder what the opinion of Tony Bennett is over on Cavalier Banter???

Has won a championship and also has now flamed out against mid majors in the first round two years in a row. This year's team had a hard time putting 50 points in the board.

His recruiting has fallen off dramatically. He had a stretch of 5 of 7 years with a top 30 offense in adjusted efficiency culminating in 2018 when they won the title and finished second in adjusted offense.

But that team had Hunter, Kyle Guy, Ty Jerome, Diakette. Those were big time offensive talents. His recruiting of offensive talents has fallen off a cliff. They just don't have any skilled creators on that end. He always seemed to have them during that 7 year run. Kind of weird how they win a title and they fall off on that end.

NIL really killed that program. They've got no money within UVA Athletics to draw anyone at this point.

Not disputing what you shared, but rather shocked to think about one of the most prestigious public universities in the nation with many successful and distinguished alumni and a long tradition in the ACC not being able to compete in the brave new world of NIL.

Yep...the schools winning the NIL game are the ones with the car emperor alums not the hedge fund manager alums.

My annual $20 on every team seeded 11-15 in the first round betting strategy has made watching the tournament so much more enjoyable without my team in it.

Go DUKES! Go ZIPS!

BYU doing BYU stuff. One of the most overrated teams in the country. I picked them to lose round 1 regardless of who they were playing. Lol

The last two Ucla coaches have something new in common.

RE: NCAA tournament thread
I picked Oregon as an "upset." They are playing with a lot of confidence and ability as an 11 seed LOL.

I also picked McNeese. Yeeesh.

I can't believe Dayton won that game. I saw the score mid through the second half and thought it's over. Credit to them.
