That is why I truly hope we can keep Jones, Jourdain and 3 or 4 others so we can have a blend instead of all new.

Proof is in the pudding. No way he was going to be fired this year because he's Penny. Probably wouldn't have been fired this year even if he wasn't Penny. He'll make the tournament next year or he won't. I wouldn't expect next year to look very different from the prior six however that shakes out.

Praying the portal gives more than it takes is a fact of life of every season at every school now.

Like it or not it’s the new reality and not specific to Penny. You can argue about substitutions and other things that are coaching related and have a good point but transfer portal is the world we live in.

The days of developing players over multiple years and building chemistry during formative years are over.

Being able to transfer if your family, friends, or handler gets in your ear about playing time or some other perceived ill is the new reality.

There’s a reason why the top 20 teams were so inconsistent this year - it was a very strange year for CBB.

We are in the early days of this new world

Penny needs to find the blend of transfers and recruits that play the same style of ball. First he needs to determine what style of ball he wants Memphis to play.

We tend to get excited about the portal guys coming and then it doesn't really help us get to the tourney or advance in the tourney.

Please look beyond the 6 foot point guards and find some guys with explosion and power. I know that's harder said than done. But he's Penny and should know one when he sees one.

I would like to see a Euro guy or two, maybe a big. They are the only ones playing fundamental basketball these days.

I guess.

I've been around a long time. Through all the independent years - the CUSA years - getting left behind - finally getting into the BE only to have it disintegrate before Memphis ever played a game in it - then the AAC actually got to be a decent conference - then it disintegrated and Memphis got left behind - again.

So yeah sure if 40 years of sticking around only to end up right back where we started and I can no longer see a path out of the third tier - if that makes me a snowflake then sure...
