RE: Spring practice
For those who have asked, Chris Brooks just posted on Twitter that concussions,.... I mean concessions.... will be open on the west lower level.

That's a nicely woven schedule.

RE: Spring practice
Last year was the first spring game I've been to and IIRC I showed up just before half time only to discover the event ended at the half. Based on the schedule it seems that we will get all 4 quarters this year? Is that new or was I just very very confused last year?

Cignetti vs Chesney. Cignetti didn't care. Chesney is all about engagement and is actually adding spice to make the game more of an event to drive engagement.

That's not really a "shot" at Cignetti (he was successful on the field) ... but a realistic take that kind of exemplifies how these 2 guys go about their business. Chesney is a breath of fresh air to those that are trying to up donations to the program. Chesney gets the marketing. Pretty much the exact opposite of Cignetti.

Great to hear! I thought I was taking crazy pills 01-wingedeagle and misremembering last year since I hadn't seen anybody mention that the spring game has been doubled in length this time.

Chesney just keeps on showing me flaws in Cignetti that I hadn't even noticed at the time. Time will tell, but he seems like a fantastic hire.

RE: Spring practice
It’s bad form to poke holes in Cignetti’s style when he was so successful. The most successful FBS transition ever.
Priority #1 = results.
Everything else falls way below.

Now, if Chesney wants to also go 19-5 in his first 2 years of FBS, then we say that we can have our cake and eat it too. If he goes 15-9 with a chipper smile on his face and more fan access, I’m not okay with that.

Gotta win and the bar has been set very high by Cignetti.
I think Chesney is a Grand Slam hire, but he still has to prove it on the field at JMU.

That's why i said not a "shot" at Cignetti. He was successful.

Just pointing out that the "promotion" side of things ... Cignetti did not care for as much. Chesney embraces fully.

I sure hope they recognize Bourne at a home game next season, and not just for the spring game. He has more than earned the admiration.

They very well may, but they did honor him during a game last season as well after he announced. It would make sense to do it this season in conjunction with some other award like HOF or something being named in his honor.

You probably had a concussion. Gotta' steer clear of the concussion stand.

Believe you are correct about last year, but it was an anomaly.

IIRC, there was some rain that caused a slick field, and there were one or two minor injuries that caused them to reconsider and shorten the event to one half. It wasn't planned that way initially.

Saturday is looking to be a very pleasant day in the burg.

I assume there is no where to watch the spring game? Other schools televise theirs. Man I miss Madizone sometimes.

Tyrique Tucker first one in the portal this spring.

Can’t wait to see him pop up at Indiana in a week.

There will be more.

RE: Spring practice
If CC and staff are desperate enough to bring in a 6'0" (generous) 295 lb defensive tackle.that has one year of G5 playing experience, things may not go great in Bloomington next season. Not a knock against Tyrique but he needs more development before going up against OSU, Michigan, and Penn State.

Seems inevitable that some of our JMU -> IU transfers are going to get their feelings hurt when they are riding the bench next season.
