What I found most interesting was the answer before the final question. The answer was in direct opposition to the call to switch conferences and “lower the ceiling” for the university.

The leadership is definitely spinning the SLC invite as a mark of honor and our acceptance as a move upward. I suppose that's not surprising, what else could they do.

On a separate note:
Guy Bailey was wearing an orange guayabara. It's an ancient tradition down here that when a senior executive starts wearing a guayabara, and ditches the suit, he's thinking about retirement.

Changing conferences will have an enormous impact on a university. If retirement is a possibility, then the move should have been made by the next president. I know you didn’t say he was retiring, but still.
