MU parting ways with Coach Dan D’Antoni MU parting ways with Coach Dan D’Antoni
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Marshall University is parting ways with head men’s basketball Coach Dan D’Antoni, university sources tell WSAZ on Monday evening.

The Herd had a 13-20 record during the 2023-2024 season.

WSAZ Sports Director Keith Morehouse is working to get more information about the announcement.

Wow. I liked D'Antoni, he had some good teams and we've played some classic games.

A lot of turnover in Sun Belt MBB coaching this year.

This will make the large majority of our fan base very happy. However, also reading that assistant Corny Jackson is taking over.
Surely just a placeholder until we can do a legitimate search?

Nope!

We just found out that in addition to being lost in the middle of the desert, the guide we thought was coming to lead us out never got the chance, but our new guide is the blind guy in our group! But - he sure does like to jump up, smile and clap!

Jeff Goodman is reporting he is not an interim and has a 2 year contract.

Yeah, I doubt they'd bother naming an interim offseason if they were going to do a search.

Rumors are Jackson is getting a two year contract. His hiring is to pacify some big contributors, I guess.

He can't do any worse..if the two years don't look to be working out, start an actual search next year and stop looking inside the Family. #innocenttillprovenbad

Let your loser HC name his successor. Brilliant.

And of course ODU fans love Dan, only coach they could beat this year.

Lazy hire by Marshall AD, no candidate search basically DD, made the decision. Marshall once again goes with the best candidate has to be a former player. Really disappointed a serious search was not conducted.

I was about to say that you guys should thank us for helping you out. Didn't think you would just go with an in-house replacement though.

If that's true, wonder how many seats those contributors can fill if he doesn't turn things around quickly. 05-mafia

Back in the day, the football mantra was "we play for championships" now the sports mantra is "we hire from within the Family"

I think people forget that Corny was a huge up and coming coach when we hired him. He is a recruiter which is what we need right now and he is also a players coach. He was also the reason we got Taevion Kinsey. I have said for years that Corny would be the successor to Dan when he left. I wish it were on better terms, but I am going to give Corny a chance to right the ship.

I'm trying to stay positive on this. I'll give CJ a chance, the same way I'm giving Huff a Second Chance this season (even-though I'm still really pissed at him for throwing the fans under the bus).
